When I was stationed at McChord AFB in the early '80s, I owned a 1941 Chevy 1-1/2-ton flatbed truck. It originally belonged to a dairy that was very popular up there from the '40s through the '70s, and had a reefer body on it back in the day. The truck was two-tone green and had the name of the dairy on the door. I've been looking for a pic or two I took of that truck while I had it, but can not find one.

Does anyone recall what the name of that dairy is? I remember the truck was light green over dark green, and had a red and white painted signage on the doors. I found a model of a '41 Chevy truck, and I want to replicate that truck.

    Anyone???

The closest big commercial dairy to McCord would have been the Flett Dairy in South Tacoma, long gone now....

Darigold sounds like the right name. I got the truck from a guy near Kent, and he told me that the truck had been in that city for quite a while.

The biggest dairy would be Wilcox - still in buisness only eggs now. there was also Faith dairy, there you could get milk in gl*** bottles up untill they shut there doors a couple years ago. I really miss faith dairy and gl*** bottled milk.

I wonder where your truck ended up i would like to have a truck of that model right now for the wifes "Farm truck"

I remember selling it to a guy that lived near Rollie's Tavern, on 112th in Lakewood. Of course, that was 1982, but hell, ya never know!!

Aww, Man. Did you just conjure up a crazy hankerin' for a carton of Darigold milk. That was the best milk. Cute logo of a little calf head if that helps spark a memory.
Anyhow hope you find a pic or two of your truck! I gotta go find some milk and pretend it tastes half as good as Darigold.

No, I swear it had a little cow head on it with a daisy or something. I know the PET milk cans of codensed evaporated milk had a calf coming out of the little can... I was hoping the image of the icon would spark the OP's memory.
    Hitchhiker - you're just cruel man! ;)
