Was at the local Cruise-In tonight, and spotted a NICE 32 Coupe with a 9" Ford rear. It had a finned aluminum cover over the back of the housing. I asked the guy about it, and all he could tell me was that the housing had to be drilled and tapped for it to bolt on. It had "E/T" cast into it, near the bottom. Anybody seen anything like this and/or know where I can find one? Thanks, guys...
I had one of those years ago. They were made by Team3 wheels back when***** Beith still owned the company. I think they were dropped when he sold the company. They were very well made. No idea where you would find one now but it wouldn't hurt to ask Team3 wheels. Good luck
The cover Moon sells looks really cool, but t's almost $800! And I thought the one Pete & Jakes sells was pricey.
If I remember correctly, the ET cover came with a drilled and tapped steel ring that was welded onto the 9" housing to bolt the cover to.
A friend of mine makes them for 9" and 8" they also fit others with little mods.PM me and I will give you contact info, Dan
E-T Differential Covers, for 9" and 8" Ford rear ends, cover that ugly but with a genuine E-T cover, easy to install, only in cast finish now, so you will have to polish it yourself or paint to match and highlite the fins. $89.00 + ups , in stock. www.team3wheels.com
i like that price alot better i might just have to get me one of these... doubt you will ever see it i plan on making my truck pretty damn low
I can't see much point to an item like that on a HAMB style hot rod. I could see a quick change rear, or even one of these with one of these for a guy who is really looking to save a few pounds and could live with the fact that it isn't really traditional, but a bolt on finned thing that is only there for the looks? That won't save weight. It'll add weight and the fins won't add any strength or cool anything and ... well, I just don't get it.
On par with all the other fakery out there. Somehow the Currie aluminum carrier you've linked to seems far more traditional.
$89 compared to $800? The H.A.M.B. at its best!...[/QUOTE] The $800 thing Mooneyes sells is a huge cover that wraps around the axle tubes, not just the round rear cover. I kinda like the ET unit, price is more realistic. For a fake cover!
Well, most of the finned stuff we think is cool doesn't do anything (ieil filter cover, coil cover, regulator cover, lake pipe caps,etc)...I'll stick with the stock looks of my Poncho rearend, that beast is heavy enough as it is...
