Actually, those are both 39 deluxe coupes. The 2nd one has 40 deluxe front grill, but the flip out windshield gives it away.

I would post picks of mine, but my computer recently dumped and I lost them.

Jack's Lowrodders chop job...kustom style, not so much hot rod, though it is running a big block Chevy motor.

Yeah, I know it is a '39, not a '40, but they're sooo close. Enjoy. [IMG]

    DrJ,
What would be the discriminator that seperates the two, Street Rod / Hot Rod? I posted the red coupe just for the reaction that I anticipated. Its a plus .030, 350, dual quads, good heads, comp cam, roller rockers and all the rest of the good **** to include a high stall converter, 350 turbo with a shift kit and an 8" Ford, 4:11 posi. Old school Edelbrock valve covers with Moon side breathers and a Ribbed air breather by Dennis O'Brien. I drove this car in the primer for 10 years before I decided to paint it and it will run consistent 12:90s........and it ain't a ****ing Hot Rod?

"Street Rod" on this board doesn't just mean "street-driven hot rod." It means post-1972 styling cues. Particularly monochromatic paint and radial tires.

After much thought about it, over a long period of time, I concluded, at least for me anyway, that the only discriminator is whether or not the vehicle has or doesn't have a valid license plate.
    Don't mis my point though.
Being a (licensed) Street Rod doesn't mean it's not also a HOTROD!
I just don't think the term and broad group "Street Rod" deserves to be run down like it is.

But of course, feel free to formulate your own definiton of either/both... [IMG] [IMG]

In my oponion all of the pictures posted thus far (except for one) are hot rods weather they are plated or not.

My wife and I have this discussion a lot (we never argue [IMG]). I can look at two 40 coupes sitting side by side and see a one hot rod and one street rod. She just sees two 40 coupes [IMG]. I say she just doesn't get it and I tell her she just doesn't understand what real hot rods are [IMG].
