Hey guys, I need some info. I have a 77 Corvette that has a fairly new brake system on it. I have replaced everything at one time or another! My question is, what is wrong when I push firmly on the brake pedal the car pulls really hard to the right and then straightens out quickly. Is it the right caliper sticking or the left is just wore out. I don't want to replace both as they're very expensive. Thanks for the input.....CR:confused:

Pull to the right indicates a problem with the left. I ***ume that you have already checked for kinked or pinched lines, collapsed hoses, you have matched rotors machined correctly and have ruled out any other possibilities.

Do you have the Delco 4 piston calipers?

It could be a stuck piston on the left caliper, an inspection is in order. If you pull the caliper and have someone gently push the brake pedal you should see the pistons move. They all should move in unison.

If everything is operating correctly then you need to check the diameters of the pistons. Some manufacturing companies will bore the caliper and use a larger diameter to repair pitted or worn calipers, if this is done it needs to be done in pairs.

Do the same for the rear brakes. A problem there will act like a front brake problem.

Are all of your suspension components in good shape...tie rods, bushings, etc??

I'd go with a brake hose, replace both of the fronts and you should be ok. They collapse internally and look perfect from the outside.

  5. What he said, I've had it happen more than once, esp. if there is a collar for mounting (ex. 70's Eldorado).

Do your self a favor and do not just start throwing parts at it. Like you said, they are spendy. I agree with Elpolacko. Check the Left front first from the sound of your discription of the problem. However as mentioned before, don't rule out the rear brakes causing the problem all together. A rear brake grabbing will also steer the car.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to change the hoses and see what happens. They have been on there along time. Thanks again!:D....CR

I've had problems with hoses before, where they had collapsed inside and didn't release. Now whenever I have any pulling problems, hoses are the first place I look.
