Any info on this set up would be appreciated. I got a line on all the "parts" for an "F" code Y block, heads, supercharger and brackets etc. Just no block. I imagine I can build it, sounds like a good deal, been wanting to put a Y block in my 37 ford so this just may be what I am looking for. The old guy setting up the deal says it all came from a "1956 Ford T bird F motor", not a lot of info here or on google. Any info would be appreciated, gonna go look it over next week. Any tips on what to look for?
    Thanks in advance.

The "F" code cars came out in 57. Both Tbirds and sedans. They were rated at 300 hp but most agree they were putting out at least 340. Special heads as well as cam, used the teapot carb. The F denoted the supercharger. They used the standard 312 block. Lots of special stuff goes with the setup.

A true F-code '57 Ford or '57 T-bird uses a VR57 blower. It has ribs around the case. An F-code T-Bird has the blower on the RH side, while the '57 passenger car has the blower mounted on the LH side. There was a phase one version as well with a band clamp around the housing on early cars.

Often people mistake the VS57 blower, which was offered in an aftermarket kit for T-bird and other cars. The VS57 Blower has a smooth apearance on the outside, and looks like a Stude or Pakard blower.

The VR57 is a factory '57 Ford set-up while the VS57 is an aftermarket kit and they have almost no interchangable parts or brackets.

No parts are avaliable to rebuild a VR57, without a conversion, and they should go to a '57 Ford collector, while the VS57 kits have a blower unit you can still get parts for and are easy to adapt to a variety of engines and work well.

They used a teapot, but not the same as normally aspirated Y's. They are very rare/valuable, as are all of the other parts on F-codes.

There was a great series of articles in "Y-Block Magazine" and "The Early Bird" on all aspects of the F-code. They may have back issues.
