Yeah, take out the '80s Thunderbird part and splice in a '49-'51 Ford coupe body.

I'm wondering if the Dan Jetter from Colorodo is any relation to 40StudeDude.

That guy takes his fake 50 ford ***mobile to every single show in the state of wisconsin. Guy seems alright, but the car is stupid. And he calls it a 50 ford, not a 91 thunderbird, or whatever it is.

It not all that bad. if they added a 50's ford roof to it, it may look nice(ish). The nose looks like its hanging tho.

There's one of those running around Tulsa, me and a buddy followed it until it stopped somewhere to get a look coupla weeks ago. Kinda scared the woman driving it I think. Hers is pink with ghost flames, had an oval grill in it - looks better than that thing. She said it was fibergl*** kit, didn't see any reason to get the company that produced it.

I saw the company that sells those things at Hershey this year. They are called Easy Rods.

    Here's the website- http://www.easyrods.com/

I can't for the life of me figure out why they started making them, but to each his own I guess.

It reminds me of the ***s on woodward this year cruising the "retro" corvette kit cars.
    Or
Like and adopted child, they don't look like the rest of the family, and no one would dare say anything to the parents but eveyone knows it (the kid) just doesn't belong!

You've GOT to be ****tin' me! Now I know how the shoebox brigade felt when they saw the first one of those abortions. When I saw their attempt at disguising a t-bird as a '55 Ford Vicky, I got all red-in-the-face, ready-to-kick-***, pissed off like I haven't been in a while. Needless to say, I really like '55 Fords (Not quite as much as '56's, though). Good thing I didn't see that before I got all married & settled down, & stuff, or I'd be headin' out there to get myself in trouble. I'll take a snort of Geritol & settle down, now. [IMG]

When I have stupid money to waste on things like that...I'm going to take one of those same year Cougars and graft on the roof and decklid from a t-bird.

Damn BigCheese, the only time my name and my brother's name is mentioned in the same thread, it's headlined "Ugly Hybrid"...that doesn't make me feel good!!! [IMG]

The tires I'm advertising are probbaly the best whitewalls I've ever found...and the conflageration of a '49 Ford pictured on those pages is truly sick! There's no accounting for taste.

We have got 3 of these "look at this ugly car" threads going at the same time now...
Isn't there something more challenging to talk about?

Maybe it's just me, but I can see the appeal of the conversion kits.

I would rather drive one of those t-birds anyday than a stock pos t-bird.

Of course I wouldn't be an *** and call it a 49/50 ford though.

uh...after seeing that they want $4000 for the basic kit...I think I could probably find the real thing for much less and still have change left over

I believe the first one was a front end total that someone grafted the shoebox sheet METAL onto. It was pretty cool at the time. The originality and metal work was cool. It was only after they made a mold and started to pop them out that it got old real quick.

Not to mention the effect that time will have on the adhesion of fibergl*** to metal. It'll become a far uglier POS than it already is.
I only remember too well how everyone in England glued L88 style hood scoops on ******s and Cortinas. The cycles of the weather created cracks and fissures that looked worse than Donald McNabbs ***cheeks.
