While the genius of Henry Ford is evident in the Ford cars we love from the Model A, to the 32 V-8, and the Fords of the nineteen thirties, at the same time, the old man embarked on a misguided and mis-managed attempt to build a utopian community in the middle of the Amazon jungle, in order to produce his own rubber to supply his plants. I just read a very interesting book about this, called "Fordlandia" by Greg Grandin. It's a good read! If you google "Fordlandia", you'll find more info and pictures on this on NPR's website. Check it out.
