  3. I'll get some pics tomorrow, it already dark here. Its a 4 door '54 super wasp. I think the styling is pretty cool, but you know, too many doors.

I'm getting ready to sell it and just wanted to id the motor before I let it go.

  4. I don't think IHC made any of the parts on the AMC V-8 series engines, but IHC did make the cylinder head casting for the 232 and 258 cid. 6-cylinder engine.

IHC bought 401 cid AMC V-8 engines for use in the International pickup and Travelall in the period around ''74 & '75 when their own factory could not keep up with the demand for the IHC 304, 345, and 392 cid engines.

International also offered the 258 cid 6-cylinder AMC engine in the Scout for a while, which they purchased fully assembled from AMC.

International also purchased the a Nissan 6-cylinder diesel, (both turbo and non-turbo) from Nissan during '78, '79, and '80 when they were trying to continue to meet the constantly escalating Government-mandated C.A.F.E. fuel economy regulations.

amc did cast the cid on the sides of the block behind the motor mounts. all modern? (67 and up)v-8's were externally the same. external balanced in 70 they went to dog leg exhaust port in the heads and 1/2" head bolts.

  16. Yea, I went out there with a flashlight and mirror. It says 304 on the block. I guess I'll drag it out to the Webster swap meet this Sunday.

  17. I seem to remember the distributor cap packages that were marked for application would read 58-74 most any GM or AMC V8, so that might help narrow down the year.

the egr valve, the fact that it's a 304, and the distributor make it look like it's from 72-74?

  21. Here's the '54 Super Wasp. It's raining and cold out there, so this is as good as the pics get today, I took these through the window.:p
