Going through some of my Grandfather's pictures. I'd thought I would share some of his from Bonneville 1954. His car is pictured on the trailer and with the 3 guys and 1 lady standing by it.
Wow!! VERY cool photos -- thanks a ton for posting them! I think that Mabee Drilling car has been seen on here before, too.... Malcolm EDIT: Here's the Mabee car: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/?p=1980
In that first group, those wheels on the 141D coupe and the rear of the 166 belly tank are really neat. Anyone know where those would have come from?
Bruce, these pics are for you. I'm not sure who's car it is. In one picture my Grandfather's friend, Harold Dawson, is pictured next to it. The car is definately from Santa Ana.
Take note of the car & pickup behind the roadster in the center top photo. Alex and the So-Cal crew with the belly tank.
These pics should pretty well tell the tale to the other thread of tonight that asks why we love/crave this past of ours. Thank you very much for sharing these.
Outstanding! Thanks so much for posting! I recognize some of these cars: Jim Kamboor's '34 chopped JADO coupe, Ollie Morris' "Smok'n White Owl" dragster that he ran at least once at Bonneville. The "Sharp-Equipped" lakester had twin flatheads, and the streamliner at bottom belonged to Harold Post. The long-nosed Bantam coupe in a later collection is Mickey Thompson's twin flathead. Dark streamliner in later set is Chet Herbert's "Beast," which I think Art Chrisman drove into the 200 MPH club.
