Yeah, the motor in the rear was my 37 21 stud, long since sold, the other motors are in the ashes right now....See ya tomarow Paul......Roach.
Looks like a real neat store Paul. Thanks for posting that picture. It's nice to be able to put a "face" to a place. I'll keep my figures crossed that the owner can rebuild.
It isn't about the money when one of these places goes away, it's about the history.....................lost Frank
Serious bummer... they pulled my bacon out of the fire more than once when "Big Blue" ate some part or another. I was there just a few weeks ago. I can't believe they went up in flames!
always hate to hear about things like this, they affect so many people and none ofthem in a positive way,damn!.....Waldo
Thanks for your thought deni, but the owner, Derral Hagen, cant get all thoes parts again, a real loss, he was going to retire in two years or so he says, but now, I think he's done, cant reopen with nuthing, wont be the same, like you losing every thing in your car but the shell, and putting that on a toyota camry chasi........Looks cool, but not the same thing.....Roach.
I am sorry for all the local's. Allot of real good people in that area who all have lost a local landmark. bad time of year for this sort of thing. Better Times, Ironbuyer Please make sure to put one bad ass sprinkler system in the new shop, it looks like the torch will be handed to you to replace such an amazing place in your neighborhood. I took a walk around the shop tonight and tried to imagine what it would be like. I don't know how I could manage losing all that I have earned. Very humbling thought.......
Here's a couple of thier old tv ads: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1hyiXnaro0&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqoGpglogAY
Trying to light that torch would be like lighting a Joint with 30mph winds coming at you. Tough act to follow. I am going to do what ever it takes to help them. They are great people.
hope to see you there today Steve would be great to encourage them to reopen, but I think this will more likely be a fairwell to an era check this out, found this receipt in one of my old Motors manuals from when I had them do a valve job and rering on my '35 Dodge in 1976
wish I could be their with you all in Tacoma/Puyallup. Down in Vancouver this weekend. I will at 2:00pm stop and think of all you there at Hagen's and say a prayer for all involved. This could not have happened at a worse time of year. I pledge myself to help in the clean up if needed, Steve give me call if you hear anything about what could be done to help. God bless you all at Hagen's Auto Parts !
So here's some pics of the guys who showed up, A big thanks from The Hagens and employes.........Roach.
WOW! I just had the master cylinder for the 51 Business Coupe sleeved; good job and fast turnaround. Spent quite a bit of time just looking around the "show room", like a kid in a candy store. All those vintage engines sitting pretty, all in a row, it's too bad. Hope everything works out for them. Butch/56sedandelivery.
Sorry we missed you Dynaflash, cant take the cold like I used to! And 56sedandelevery, that was me that redid your master, yeah, with out all the rebuild kits, I think things are done, but we will see when darrel gets back tomarow...........Roach.
Been buying parts from them since high school some 30 years ago, With all the inventory they had not to mention the knowledge held in those wallsthe price of old car parts just went up! Sad times for sure.
I just heard the news. What a terrible loss for the owner and all of us old car guys in the area. Hopes and prayers that some how the tradition can be carried on.
I still can't believe it. All those beautiful, vintage parts! It's the end of an era. I sure hope they rebuild, but I don't see how you recoup decades of collecting NOS goodies. No more going and leaning over the counter to talk parts... gonna' have to resort to mail/internet ordering for rebuild stuff.
UPDATE......Over the weekend !!! some one broke in and stole stuff!! Add insult to ingjery!!! Well we are going to cleen things up and see what the hell, I'll let ya know whats going on as it happens........Roach. Flippin Jakals!!!
NOOOOO!!!!! This is really sad. I met the owner and took a private tour 2 years ago, I've seen all of their inventory and it is really sad to think of what was lost and can never be replaced, they had a lot of rare parts. What a sad thing to happen to one of the last surviving family owned auto parts stores. My condolences.
