only thing i can say is thankfully we can at least get titles fairly easy for old iron. but don't let your tags expire or it's a $50.00 late fee insted of $5.00.

Florida just double theirs. Drivers licenses class D are now 75 bucks. But atleast their good for 5 years though. I have a commercial class A license and it cost me 200 when i moved here 2 years ago. Hate to see the price now. Dosnt expire till 2012. could go up again by then. Tags doubled too. Last time it cost me around 92 bucks for my truck.

Wait till the wunderfull government starts charging us based on how many miles we drive.

  11. In Oklahoma, the late fee on an expired tag was 25 cents a day, for a max of six months. In November, they jacked that up to a dollar a day. Greedy, greedy fucks.

Well, on a certain level, a road use tax makes sense. You drive more, you cause more wear and tear to the highway, why shouldn't you pay more? Just asking. The cost of road maintenance and improvements keeps going up. How do you expect we'll pay for it?

New York screwed us again mostly to pay for the NY City MTA which most people never ever use. Plates, Titles, Licenses & Registration fees all jumped up. All that added to a MTA payroll tax.

  19. so...i'm trying to be political here...but why do you keep voting for the same tax raisers then?

the car in my avatar has plates that cost me $25 for life

looks like your a lucky one. seems like it don't matter who you vote for, they all only know how to waste $$ on foolish shit instead of what the people want. we could go on and on and on.

  21. don't get me wrong...we waste money here too. i've heard that license plates on 2010 vehicles here have gone just crazy.....

The problem is that you've got 300 million people to please. So the "foolish shit" expenditure in your eyes might be perfectly justified in someone else's opinion. But regardless, political statements will get this thread closed, fast.

nwbhotrod is right.. road repair comes from gas tax.. thanks to the "improved fuel economy vehicles" that more and more of us are driving, LESS gas tax $$$ is being collected..

    to counterbalance this..

the Government needs to collect more taxes (rather more $$$ in alternative forms)

further proof that HYBRID vehicles are the work of the devil..

With that kind of logic, you must work for the DOT. The gas tax isn't a sliding scale, so maybe gas at $3 instead $1 might also be a factor? Plus I'm willing to bet good money that even if we bought as much gas every year as our all time high consumption that it still wouldn't keep pace with the rising costs of highway maintenance and construction. No need to pick on the hybrids. What about the electrics, the LNG buses, waste oil diesels? Technology is not the problem.

Nevada, too.. The lady at the Assessors office, when I went in to get my Veterans tax voucher told me that eight years is a cutoff: at nine years old, the fees start going up again, fairly radically - the state is trying to get the "old cars" off the road, and this is the way they're doing it.:mad::mad:

Try having a class A in NY. My hazmat is running out in Jan. and now with all the other crap in NY the hazmat endorsement alone is 145.00 without the normal renewal fee. Now we have to be fingerprinted for a background check and still have to pay the normal license fee. I don't even remember what that fee is now but I think it's around 80.00.

  30. It went up this year in NH as well.
