This guy was at Sonic last night in this '65 Bonneville. This was, according to him, the only one ever made like it. It was a Bonneville convertible, 421 HO, 375 hp, tri-power, 4 speed. I've seen a lot of Pontiacs in my day, and have owned 6 of them and I've never seen or ever heard of a 4 speed Bonneville. What say you?
i don't think pontiac used sandin compressors. i say bs....click the link..if they made 1100 catalinas why just one bonny?? http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1965-pontiac-catalina-2-plus-2-convertible.htm
quicky google 1449 4 speed bonnevilles in 65 Not an everyday thing but they are out there. rag top 421 tri-power, could be IDK http://www.oldride.com/library/1965_pontiac_bonneville.html
Not the same car, but you asked about a 4 speed Bonneville-my uncle bought new and still has a '63 Bonneville, 421 with four speed and bucket seats.
well it is probly not a 1 of 1 car but in 65 on the bonneville pontiac did offer 4 differnet engines, each had i think 3 different type of induction system that where other options. they also had 3 different transmission options the 3 speed, 4 speed and the TH400. so im sure there are alot more than just this one, it all depends on what the first owner wanted to in the car and how many options they could aford. also i thought it might be a super duty but i dont think any of the super duty cars came with A/C as a option and i dont know it A/C was even a regular option.
It probably is rare but it sure isnt' the only one built. The big sister of my best friend in High School got one for her graduation present. She wanted a GTO but her dad had heard about them and got her a bigger, heavier car. I don't remember if it was a 421 but I remember it was a three deuce four speed car because we were all jealous of the carb setup.
It is an aftermarket A/C. This guy had it put on ... I had a '65 Catalina Ventura (2dr ht) with a 389 tri-power and a 4 speed and I thought it was rare. (Mine had factory air). I had just never seen a Bonneville with a 4 speed. He said some girl had it made way back then. I know one thing, I like it, a lot! ...
You can see the shifter in that picture. My '65 with a 4 speed didn't have a shifter like that. It's been a long time, but I'm thinkin' mine had a factory Hurst, not sure about that. I do know it had a white knob on it ...
I seen a exact copy but blue sitting in a field of a bunch of other pontiacs in a field near Columbus Ohio about 15 years ago,it was complete and for sale but did not have the money to buy it.
There were 1,449 manual transmission Bonnevilles in 1965, but that includes all body styles and all the available manual transmissions: three speed on the column, three speed on the floor, and four speed cars. It's probably reasonable to ***ume that a lot of those cars had four doors with three on the tree, and were sold to old men. This convertible is certainly rare (especially with the 421HO engine) but it's not one of one - I've seen a couple others like it. As far as that goes, there's no way for the owner to prove exactly how many were built with that particular option combination; Pontiac Historical Services has the build sheets for all Pontiacs built that year, but someone would have to sit down and go through every single one by hand to figure that out. My '61 Bonneville (in my avatar) is a factory 348hp tripower/4 speed car.
