hope you have the patience and deep pockets to deal with the wood issues. that one looks like it could have a few.
    hope not for your sake.

You have a cool hot rod there. Nice to see a different car. A lot of these are just piles of sheetmetal because of the wood. It is damn hard to replace.

What are you going to do with it?

Aww . Don't be scared  they are not that hard to rebuild, and that one looks like a keeper. I really like the 5 window also.
What are your plans or build ideas for it? John

P.S. Be carefull when you take it apart. The upper of the two belt lines. On the cowl and rear of the car are nailed into wood and they are aluminum and bend easy.

Kinda nice to say "Got Wood"? And, like said the metal replacement isn't that big of a deal. The BIG problem with the wood framing was always panel alignment. That's solved with the tubing.

  17. Great find! Was that really a 3 window? Looks like it may have been a Cabriolet (that roof line is all wrong)... I have a pair of doors that might be in better shape if you're interested.

    What are your plans?

You're absolutely right PBR, it couldn't be any more simple. Even if the wood was rotten or gone it still wouldn't be that tough to do.

Except wisharts already started at LEAST 3 threads I know of asking how to do it, has anyone done it, anyone have pictures of it, etc etc.

And there are others that have asked too.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just saying just because it seems simple to you or me dosen't mean the next guy gets it.

I have done metal structuring on a 32 chevy coupe, a 28 chevy coupe, and now a 35 chevy 3 window coupe. There is a thread ***led (29 chevy full sheet metal kit car) it has lots of info in it regarding wood to metal replacement and some wood replacement talk. I also have a thread ***led (28 chevy sedan to a sedan delivery) and it has some info regarding replacing wood with metal. Again nice projects...John

I was just interested in seeing pics. of how the sides of the top along the sides were made.I know the top was no where as flat as my uncle made it. This car was originally a Fourdoor sedan. As far as not being able to build these cars! I dont think you guys have ever been thru Wishart Mo before! these are a piece of cake! We've allready replaced the wood.
