One of those nasty toothed blades you put on a 4" grinder would work great, followed by a sander.

I can't remember the name of those blades. They work great. You just have to be super careful

Maybe I'm a *****, but I drew a 5 ring bulls-eye on mine, taped off a set depth to my drill bit for each ring and drilled as many holes as I could while getting more and more shallow towards the outside rings...then ripped all of the leftover wood out with a BFH and a 50 grit sanding disc on an angle grinder...the best thing you can do first is build sturdy clamps around the outside (like the rings on a whiskey barrel, except with a bolt to tighten it)...

The drill bit thing did occur to me. I think it may be my cheapest option. I really like the binding ring idea. Maybe I'll forged some rings around it out of flat stock.

It's a tree stump with a dish/bowl recess carved into the end of it for hammer forming sheetmetal...hotrod linkin is better at useless insults than he is explanations, which isn't saying much...

    I. O used a circular saw

if your careful you can lower the saw in
to the depth of the blade turn the saw off

    remove
    rotate
    repeat

It's time consuming, but I like keeping my fingers, so chainsaws and angle grinders with saw blades on them tend to put my digits at risk (along with other body parts)...and the straps are easy to make, and will make your stump last much longer if you ever need to form heavy gauge material...

I used a long 1/4" drill bit to drill a couple of dozen holes in a circular pattern when I made my stump, and then used a hammer and chisel to knock out the rest. I used the end of the flutes as a depth guage to make sure I didn't drill the holes too deep. It's lots safer than a circ saw, and it produces a cone shaped hole, which is preferable to a hemisherical shaped hollow from a metalshaping standpoint.

I did mine on a lathe. I first faced it flat and square on each end then cut a dish in each end - one rather broad and shallow and one rather deep and tight. I had to leave a plug in the center for the center point which I removed with a disc sander after I removed it from the lathe.

That gave me two stump bowls for the price of one - well, none actually.

You don't read too good, does you? I never said you were insulting him, I said you were better at useless insults than you are at explanations...and FWIW 2 or 3 words is an answer, not an explanation...
