  1. As I only have a frame and a body, I don't really have too much choice. I do love a challenge! This what I'm starting with...:eek::eek:

  2. Don't do it, if you cant find steel guards go with gl*** until you can afford and find steel. Fat fender cars look like **** without the guards.

They do look MUCH better with fenders, but if you must do it, they look a little better if you move the front axle forward. They're just too nose heavy otherwise.

  7. I was thinking of channeling the body even with the bottom of the frame rail with a bit of a rake, mainly because there is no floor, Using the wide 5 and suicide the front. and a bit of a chop. I was also thinking of using a 34 grille shell. No fenders, hood etc... As for powertrain, a Y-block or an FE.

34 is the last year for fenderless Fords, as most will probably agree here. 35 and up gotta have fenders, it's the rules, I didn't write 'em. If you look, fenders can be found, and it looks like you have plenty of time! Kinda like what I'm working with right now! Had to rebuild cowl bottoms and subrails, haven't even started on the floors!

Congrats on the find, looks like you have a 36 judging by the cowl sides and the windshield crankout handle. Good luck.

I saw that on Kijiji.... shouldnt be too hard to find the missing stuff, did ya have to pay full price for it?

  12. I was trying to sell it, but I didn't so I don't really have a choice but to build it because it keeps talking to me!!

  13. If he had built it in today's era, as a streetable hot rod, it would be hideous, but he built it in 1953 to drag race, and it launched him to a place in history.

X2 bigtime! Post 34's look like **** w/o fenders, hood.

Start working on the ch***is and body. 35/6 fenders will come along...and they're cheap compared to 32-34 fenders!!!

Here's a couple of a buddies 36. Not the best pics, but all I have.
It's a very cool car in person, 401 Nailhead with a 3 speed.
Was in very rough shape (worse than your pics) when he started.
    Go for it.

If it's talking to you and saying "fenderless" someone needs rehab.

I don't think you necessarily have to suicide it. They use a spring in front axle setup, so by switching to a spring behind, you'd do a lot to relieve the nose heaviness. Then I'd try to use the 36 grill, that way, fenders could be installed later just by switching the axle back.
In other words, I'd go ahead and build it fenderless if that's what you want, but if it was me, I'd try to do it in a way that would still allow me to bolt on some fenders some day relatively easily. Just a thought.

    MFCh***iworks,
congrats on your 36! Best design Ford ever produced IMO. As others have said, I'd highly encourage you to find fenders. Fronts aren't hard to find. For the rears, coupe fenders are expensive and harder to find, but I know many people have had success adapting sedan rear fenders, or you can get fibergl*** fenders that will look right. I've never seen one without fenders that looked even close to as right as the ones with fenders. I've seen pictures from certain angles that made me wonder if it could be pulled off, but I don't think it'll ever look as good no matter how much modification is done.

Good luck with your project. I've had great luck finding 36 parts on the board here.

Its your car to build as you wish ,but I would Keep looking for fenders, they just don't look right without fenders. A large woman can wear a thong - but it doesn't mean she should.

    Fenderless 35/36?
    NEVER DO THAT!

  25. Man! Uncle Buck you are so right on that one.

  26. Is it the round roof or the long back that is the problem in the fenderless appearance?

  27. I found some the board, I don't know if fenders ever made it on this car or not. Its the closest thing I ve seen yet.

  28. There's a couple more of that car in Enbloc's thread about his 3w. It now has sort of a track nose--actually looks as cool as one can without fenders. Belongs to an English HAMB guy, verr1908
