What size wheel and tire are you guys running on a lowered F-1 with no air bags???????????????? Thanks Camm
It's pretty low in the back, has a mini notch kit and the front has a 4" dropped axle. Looking for a wheel and tire i can get out of the rear wheel well, i have Lr 78 15's on stock rims. They don't come out of the wheel well very good.
Hey Check out this Thread....This is a topic i am interested in too... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=407985
If running a stock rear axle I know you can run a 15 x10 wheel and a L60 15 that will fill it out real nice. Have 15 x 8's on mine with spacers and my tire is about 1/4 from the fender and looks real nice. 15x6's with 185s up front.
I haven't taken any with these wheels on it yet, but I will try and take some later today. Until then search for F-1's I have posted some in the past, like this. The black one has 15x10's out back and 14x6's up front.
I am running 15x6 rims on the front with Coker P195 75R 15's and on the rear 15x7.5 reversed rims with Coker p225 75R 15's. I have a Volare with Fatman dropped spindles and an Ford Econoline 9" rear end (No Bags) front will adjust lower, but will make it up my drive at the level I have it set. Best of luck with your project
I have L-78's out back and I bet I'm as low or lower. It's a stock width 49' rear with wheel adapters.. Rims are 15 X 7
15'X10" rear with cheater slicks. And yes, and I have to remove the fenders to get the tires off. Form before function.
Depends on what front end and rear end your running... get a tape measure and square out and measure from the hubs...
Camm What are you up to? To chilly for the roadster? I didn't know you where building an F1 Mine had L 78's on the rear. Had to pull the valve stem to get them out, Them push the wheel under the truck at the bottom and they should fall out. That truck looks a lot higher than mine was, the back of my running boards were 2 1/2 in off the groundThe real trick is putting them back in I had to use two flat bars and lots of cussing to get them back in. Are you guy getting snow in lake county? Just sun and 20 degree weather up in Redding Brrrr
Hey, how are you doing? Not much snow yet. What's new? I just picked this truck up, just working the bugs out of it..... Take care
Those tires should come out no problem. Its just not easy or fun. I had to learn the hard way back in the day with severly slam VW buses. They only have half wheel openings in the rear. Imagine the center of the axle at the top of the opening. Whats the plan for it. Chop and channel I hope
I know this is a Chubby Chebby but this tire is an 8.20-15 built into our HURST 30x8x15. We can also cap the L78-15 to build same tire. I would ***ume either the L78 or an 8.20 might be as big as you dare go for overall diameter 30" in either application. Cross section and width are another thing all together. Then you are dealing with backspace of wheel being other factor. No way should you own a car that you have to dismantle to service tire. IMHO Of course Thank You HOTRODRUBBER
I agree, i don't want to take the truck a part to change a tire. How far is your shop from Salem?? I will be up there next week. Do you have tires in stock for front and back?
Going to chop it for sure........Got any idea's how much? I don't want to go though all the trouble and you can barley tell it's chopped.
I think mine was 4" but the 3" channel is what really got it down. I think when they are severly chopped and not channeled the hood is too tall and out of proportion. I left the front fenders and bed in the stock position and channeled the cab only. I never did get around to sectioning the hood, wish I had. The windshield was the same height as the back gl*** is stock, so what ever that is, is what I chopped it 4" I think.
PM SENT!! Salem is a good 45 minutes from Oregon City depending on traffic Anyone is always welcome to stop by Shop#503-656-1572 HOTRODRUBBER
I have a pair of 750x16 bias ply mounted with tubes, nearly new that fill out the wheel well nicely,if your interested.
Check mine in my avatar. It has 235/75-15 on all 4 corners. Its good to hear someone thinks bags are for groceries too!
