Does anyone know of OR have one of these kits in their car? I bought a '51 Olds engine that has a stock distributor but a Mallory external condensor and dual point plate in the distributor body. The points are there and it is truely a dual point. I can only assume it is an after market kit. I would like to use this in another engine but can I get new points and condensor and where? Or will 2 standard points work? I can't find crap about this on the net. ANY help appreciated.
    Thanks
    Bob

Not to steal this thread, Bubba, but are those big condensers with a screwpost for the wire from the points still available?

Nope, i have found a few over the years and used my last NOS one on a customers special unit the other day.
I usually polish the old brass ojne up and use the opisite terminal for the actual wiring and hide a new "vertex style hd mfd " unit in the wiring some where. Making the old brass one a fake.
Looks good but very un functional.........

Paul, the only thing I don't know is if the point plate has all the words on that yours does. It is VERY dirty and I have to clean it. Just was supprised to see a dual point in this junk engine.

  8. Those look like Chevy six points, come to think of it they probably used the same ones in the 265 in '55 and '56. Can anyone verify?

if it's real dirty pull it and make sure the plate moves freely,
it's a sandwich afair with the ball bearings between

Yes, I got to investigate this further. I just got a new parts washer and have to get some fluid so I'll try it out really soon. I'll post some photo's when I get it apart and cleaned. Then we'll see what I got.
    Thanks all
