Tried to represent on Pinks All Out

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Don Moyer, Dec 7, 2009.

  1. They had registration for Pinks All Out today at noon for Summit Raceway in august.....at 12:04 the website was sold out! I called from 11:59 to 12:10....got through only for it to ring 8 times and hang up on me:mad: Sent them an email with pic of my car and said to put me on a waiting list...I tried.

Guess I dont understand the fascinaton with Pinks all Out.

    Can someone explain?

Seems like a way for a promoter to drag in 500+ cars, 1/2 of whom don't have a chance of winning a round much less the the 10K pot.

  4. I think it is more geared to those that don't get it....I just wanted to do a little gospel spreading.....

Bill Bierman went to Memphis Pinks all out with his Altered Wheelbase Stude, Henry J, and the Pacer drag car painted up like the wayne's world car.

I'm REALLY not trying too steer this thread in a bad direction...

Is is easy to hate Rich Christensen, he's a douche. But without him there would be no drag racing on TV, let alone prime time, turn on your set on any random week day and see real drag racing.

As uncomfortable as it is for me to look at that dude, I'm glad he does what he does. It's a hell of alot better than nothing.

DON: Sorry your little car didn't make it in, it is a bad mofo and would look great whuppin up on all the Chevvies and Mustangs.

    See ya, -Abone.

  17. Always admired the Rebel Reaper, went to thompson last two years and you always run consistent, you don't need the Pinks exposure you already have Hamb Jivers. Got wind that the Gasser Reunion may not be at Thompson this year although the 409 crowd is supposed to be in attendance again. Heard anything to that?:)

    1. The track promoter gets a big payday, which probably doesn't happen that often.

    2. The fans that fill the stands get a great show of cars running hard all day, and some real tight racing once the final 16 or whatever are picked. Nobody taps their brakes all day!

    3. The drivers get to make at least 2 passes in front of a huge crowd, maybe get on TV, and a slim shot at winning a bunch of money and a loaded tool box.

    4. I get to watch low buck, heads up, drag racing on the comfort of my sofa while sipping a Shiner and petting my 3 legged Pit Bull.

    Really, what's not to like?

    PS...

Don, I hope they make room for you. I'd think the Reaper would go over great.

DON, you'll get em next time. I wish they would do a show with all nostalgic cars....FEDs, old raked up roadsters, gassers...oh yeah!

I agree with Buzzard. Some if it is hokey, and lame, but, I still get to watch cars go down the strip. My wife and kids have gotten to like drag racing, and have even asked me when the next drag race is in our area. We've gone to a few races, so, all in all, I call PINKS a success in that area. Jsut turn off your thinking switch.

  21. I just like watching the drag racing. I don't pay attention to Rich or his staff, they are always trying to generate "drama". The show itself is OK.

For that matter, I'll watch "Pass Time" over "Pinks" anything, anytime...yeah, I know, same producers, so what!

The show is fun to do. If your there to race your kidding yourself, if your there to have a good time and film a tv show its a blast. I've been to Bristol, Atlanta, and Charlotte and had a ball each time. If you watch the Atlanta show thats me in my Dads 49 Hudson. I lost in the 1st round to the eventual winner by .0015 but still had a blast. I got to run a car down the strip heads up in front of over 30,000 people Its worth the trip just for the experience.:D

The popularity can only help us......as the popularity grows with "common folk" it helps us in the future, those people have day jobs as city councilmembers, police officers...etc. etc.

And yes, I hope those track owners do make a killing that way they will be in business the following year when i want to go play..

I ran for pass time last month in Vegas, it will be in the new season starting in january.

as much as i dislike the over the top drama they try and create for the show its not to bad if tune at rich. how many other shows are on that give the working man a shot at winning a decent pot and getting a little airtime. id rather watch this over an nhra race anyday.

I'll have to say that the new format sure beats the old. Now I didn't watch it forever because of how hokey it was at first.

The old "I can beat you but I need a 6 car headstart drama was lame". The multi car run offs are far better. Far less time for the stupid filler drama.

The Rebel Reaper would have been far more interesting than another of the many 2000 Camaro's or by the dozens muscle cars.
