I took 4 in. out from the left of the speedometer cluster and 3 in. out on the other side of the speedo and 7 in. out beside the glove box door.
Refreshing idea after seeing so many '40 Ford dashes! Keep us posted on the build please................... You got me thinking of tearing mine out and starting over, arg............ Lets see more of the '36........
Nice job. Now if you want to keep it looking correct with a radio and if your 12 volts get a 61 Ford car radio. It only takes a slight mod on dash to make it look stock. The knobs and ****ons fit right in the stock holes. Few will ever pick up on the Change. The Wizzard
Chopper99 your stuff is always spot on so even if I thought the original gauges were the right way to go I could not say it, because in the end I know I would eat my words. I think it looks very natural. I'm putting different gauges in my '35 Coupe but I am retaining the dash and just swapping the set out for '53 Desoto. I think it's going to work out well because the original gauges were three round ones and so are the Desoto's. Keep it up, I want to see the whole car.
Dang!!! you can't even tell where you chopped it out. Nice job, I took whole middle section out on mine.
Your dash looks great! I did the same thing in my '36 two door a couple of years ago. I took the whole 14 inches right out of the center of the dash though. Here's a picture of it before paint.
Nice work, very weld done! Like Jefferey says, lets see the rest of the car, more details too! -Shiny
Here is the 61 Radio in my dash. I had to fill a bit on the end of the face but the rest was a natural. Only give away is flat ****ons instead of round. The Wizzard
Nice job. I also love that dash. I did a very similar sectioning to get it into my Sled project. and here you can see where I took the material out a little better. about 1" to the left of the main gage bezel and 4" on either side of the clock pod for a total of about 9". I did a zig-zag cut to keep the speaker grill and the ash tray.
Jaronsont3; Looking at that floor pan I half to ask if that is a Volkswagon. If so I'd like to see more of what your doing. The Wizzard
I stop over to check progress on this car from time to time. When he first showed me the dash, I was only mildly "warm" to the idea, but once I saw it installed I was really impressed. The proportions and fit are perfect, and it has a kind of art deco look that belongs in this car. Surprised no one mentioned the V'd windshield.
Vd windshield that's why I asked to see the rest of the build! Plus it looks like the windshield moldings are from same. Even has the defroster ducts................
Thaaat's riiiight, the plot thickens. I'll bet he doesn't show it all though, I'm surprised he showed the dash, he's like a mad scientist, very secretive, and his shop is guarded like area 51. I've been sworn to secrecy, I've said too much already.
The doors are certainly not roadster doors, I have never seen a Cabriolet inside door but would guess it's not that either. Would guess he is making a convert out of a sedan or 5 window?
