My brother and I won this interesting piece on Ebay last night. From what we gathered from the current owner, is that the car was built sometime in the mid to late 1960's in Alabama. It has a Big Block Mopar in it with a Torqueflite tranny. The car runs and drives great we're told.I know its hidious to look at right now,but I think it can be made right with a little work.I Dig the Cocaine window!..NOT! **If you going to make negative and off topic remarks about my brother and I,please dont bother.**
if it were mine i'd ditch the wheels ,and the roof, and go early sixties" show car" style ranchero.got lots of potential!good luck with er!
You mean you dont like them 1970's wheels?!! hahahaha..all thats going bye, bye..for sure..I just cant figure out what to do with that damn roof yet..we were thinking of Chrome revered wheels and pinner whitewalls.. shaving the handles, acing the gay mirrors and tailights and the pushbars, and doing something in the rear to fill all that damn space..We are open to legitimate suggestions..Lay it on us...
Not to make a negative remark, but I think its so ugly that its cool. If it were mine, I'd go all black, open pipes straight through the hood and scare the hell out of people. Keep us posted on its progress...
[ QUOTE ] Last one..I know its funny as hell..but the price was right... [/ QUOTE ] If someone delivered that POS to my doorstep and slipped ten crisp C-notes in my pocket, the price would still be too high!
I might can help with some history of the car...I know the last people here in AL that owned it. They sold it to someone in PA, and then I saw it on ebay in an aucciton that ended in Sept. I guess it was sold again.... Brian
yeah that thing looks like a true alabama abortion. i have the right to say that since i grew up in dothan,al and only moved away about 8 years ago(32 now). it's not beyond salvation but i hope cheap was reaally cheap. old stuff goes pretty cheap there anyhow esp the southern parts where i'm from. good luck basiclly first thing pull every "light" on it and start over from there as that and the top are the worst parts...ken....
My son, I'd call a priest. That car looks like the work of the devil. LOL Maybe you got it at a good enough deal that you could put the B motor in something else?
Have you ever seen a picture of a 57 Merc Daytona Speedster the was known as the Mermaid? It was a convertible that had a D-Type Jaguar treatment with the cut down windscreen and the tall .single asymetrical fin. Go to this site. home.g2a.net/~brechlrl/
i think its very saveable..get rid of all the lights or atleast kant the fronts , due matching grilles front and raer. loose the roof all together, give the general lee her wheels back , chrome reversed with bullets wide whites, some scalloping . 60s show custom kool....good luck

definately has potential for radical custom...definatelly needs something done withe the roof kinda looks like a cab for the bed of an el camino or somehting..also definatly needs like a bumper or just chrome those bars sticking out back

[/ QUOTE ] I agree !!! [/ QUOTE ]This makes me think of that movie The Car "LISTEN! CAN YOU TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CAR WITH A BAD TRANSMISSION, AND ONE THAT IS POSSESSED BY A DEMON FROM HELL?" Maybe that's the way to look at it Lotsa Work ahead.
Radical Ranchero-style pickup, all new rolled pans fore and aft, new wheels, mesh in all the grille/headlightarea with stacked Imperial headlights (the freestanding type), new seriously radical paint.. I dunno.
[ QUOTE ] This makes me think of that movie The Car [/ QUOTE ] That's the first thing I thought about.. The second of course being that I love that Iron Maiden/S&M dashboard..
The Lincoln in "The Car" was kinda cool!!! (Love that movie...bad acting and all! ) This thing makes me think The Car humped a pink hearse before it went off the cliff...and this is the result of that lust filled experience!!!

Lose the Carson Top. They do not look right on square body cars. Remove the door tops and go full time convertaible. Maybe a tonneau cover for the rear seats. Replace the split windshield. Install canted quad headlights. Tube front and rear grills ala Alexander Bros style Cut off the rear pan and start over. French in some '57 Merc taillights back into the fins. Split a '57 Ford front bumper and finish the front pan. You could also do this for the rear as well. Remove all of the interior. Start over with '63/ '64 T-Bird buckets and rear bench. Find yourself a '57 - '59 Merc or Ford dash and smooth it out. Won't be too bad after some hard work.
I wanna see some more pictures of the engine compartment. I thought I was the only guy running a 383/727 combo in a mid 50's Ford
Defintely loose all the lights. Change the grill to something that actually fits the area. Chrome reverse/bullets would look goodor some 57-59 Plymouth caps would be period perfecct AND a little different! I vote for the Ranchero treatment.
