With no luck on the history, PAINT IT. I am all for leaving stuff as it was found, if there is history enough and or the condition is right, but this one...I honestly think it would be much nicer done your way. without history, you can make it your way and start new history!!!!

Now, how bout some progress pics!!!? :D

That thing is BADASS i would leave it Exactly how it is. It gives it character and seperates it from the gassers which are obviously not driven with perfect paint jobs.

Grab your box of crayolas for inspiration and paint it. Your planned scheme sounds real cool. Post some pics

Squirrel said it best; nothing to preserve, paint it.

I know your're going to fix the saggy hood and funky front wheelwells first.

Paint it and bring it to me to have it lettered................please!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Just my humble opinion but it looks tetanus shot prepared the way it looks presently ( ratty).
    Paint it a 60's 70's color.
How about root beer brown maybe with a tiny bit of extra flake added to it.
Maybe that copper color that was so popular on 57 and 58 Chevy's back in the day?
Cadillac had a wicked looking green back in 1970, Nottingham Green Firemist. It really popped!
You've got a nice foundation there for a sweet ride.

One of the few times that most responders have actually voted for traditional. Usually they yell for unpainted. I vote for paint and let the body shop guy go wild.

Im thinkin a nice flake or candy paint job with some gold leaf lettering would look right at home. And god forbid dont listen to the people who said put decals lol. Only ricer fags use decals :D

The decals go on the windows, just like always. I would not put them on the car.

that's a cool car. i'd paint it. not really because of the condition of the paint, but the color itself. that car is screaming to be nice again too.

Hum, Florida, rust, from what I'm seeing in the drip rails and trunk area. I think paint or a good sealer is in order to save what you have.

I went through the same thing myself this year. I say repaint it! If you have original pics from back in the day, paint it just like the photo. If no photo, paint it however you want. my .02

I say paint. Not dig'n the yellow it is now plus like everyone else said there's nothing to preserve. Get the body straight obviously but then do your thing. I'd also say leave the lace out. Kandy, Metalflake, maybe some panels but no lace. Don't think it would look right.
