Any '61 Ford gassers? Pictures?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HotRodHabit, Dec 9, 2009.

  1. Anybody have pics new or old of 1961 Ford g***ers? No Falcons please, I'm talking about the full sized cars.

I have this '61 that we used at the Billetproof drags, and I was wondering how it would look with a straight axle?

Here is my dad's '61 Starliner in '61. He ran S/S with the car and was quite succesful. Keep the car S/S themed. They didn't straight axle these big cars back in the day. They did lower them in the back and raise the front with spacers in the coil springs for what they thought was weight transfer. It really didn't help that much but looked cool!!:D

Reminds me of a friend's car. '61 Fairlane, black on black, hipo 390, factory add-on 6V induction, three speed with o/d, chrome wheels, black tires. Bad***.

Personally, I think a straight axle under that car would be silly, but have fun.

How about this? Featured in the January 1969 issue of Popular Hot Rodding.

yeah. to me they should stay on the ground. that's just my opinion.

  13. Yeah. Gotta respect all that rear overhang and the "wings" on the quarters. It's a big part of what gives that car style- it just works better when it's horizontal.
