Hillmans are few and far between ins the USA these days. But the '59 you showed would make a nice custom. Just nose and deck it, maybe a custom grille and you are on your way. Keep practicing with the photo chopping - it's a good way to get an idea of what you can do. For some nice British sedan customs (including a few Hillmans) check out the UK Kustoms website: http://www.ukkustoms.com/ By the way you said that the car was a hardtop. Unless the terminology is different in Australia, a "hardtop" refers to a pillarless (B-post or middle pillar) car, not just one with a roof. Keep us posted. Dave
You wanna put skirts and SNOW on it? I think I have seen some customized ones on some other english carforum too,but cant remember where. check marts site for links, maybe.
kool thanks for the replies guys there are also four or so wagons in the same place and i am workin on a pfotochop of a g***er styled wagon it should look pretty good i will post pics when its done aedan
Here's the little guy with a mild angle chop and drop. I chick I went to highschool with had one of those.
thanks 30 roadster man that looks rad if i get it but i will weld the back doors up shave it and carson top it and give it a lil chop btw howd u get the back ground and interior lookin so good
That is a really cool idea man, I think you should definitely do it! Very creative and you will never have to worry about seeing someone with another just like it anywhere, thats for sure! Greg
thanks man im gettin really g'd up about it now thats also what i like about the bedford pick up i've posted about before no one has one yeah all you guys have been so helpful thanx aedan
I cheated on the background. I used the l***o around the black in the wheel wells and up to the top of the page and pulled the whole image down to drop the car over the wheels. Then i used the crop tool and made the whole image smaller in the vertical dimesion. I picked out the colors near where i erased the top and filled in colors to make it look like there was an interior. There are some true P-chop gods here on the HAMB. I'm not one of em I liked your fender skirts! Needs a custom grill and the hood m***aged.
When I changed the format to GIF then to JPEG the colors got a bit messed up, but here is the result: Chopped the top, hardtopped it, shaved the handles, french the headlights, raised the rear fin a bit, lowered it. By the way, if memory serves, Hillman Minx's ran in the Monte Carlo Rally in the fifties and early sixties. I believe there are lots of hop-up parts available like two and three carb setups. Dave
In my humble opinion, skirts and that whole standard taildragger-theme will make an otherwise cool little car cute/lame and stylewise a subs***ute for a larger car. Still the car has good lines for such small cars, and might look cool in a more sixties kustomrod-theme with radiused wheelopenings, a mild rake, stock roofheight, bodymods only on front and rear, fadaway paint, cragars on thin whitewalls. Needs a Rover V8 to back up the looks though. Or keep it stock.
51 Cards, Thanks for the Hillman pic to play with. Since this will be an Aussi vehicle, may I present:
It could work, Chopped,Sectioned, and lowered. Man do you have a lot of work to do keep us posted.......lol
umm yeah i'll try and get a few pics of the actual car thats in the guy's yard ( i havent been in there in ages because we snuck in and he was there! i dont think he saw us but) uhhh yeah i guess there wood b a fair bit o work goin into it but it would be hell worth it but in the same place there are also about 4 or so hill man wagons and 2 other ones under tarps not sure what they r but oh btw there is also a really kool bedford pick up in there which i would like to rod check it out here http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=594847&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&fpart=1&vc=1
