I'd say don't letter it up like a g***er, because it doesn't look like a a g***er to me. Unless you're going for the I-found-an-old-g***er-body-and-put-it-on-my-pro-street ch***is look. Satin black is a sad thing these days. I say go for the flames.
I love the satin black look, I'm in the middle of prepping mine for satin black. It's funny to me how people are turning away from it for whatever reason.... But anyway I was thinking about it and wondered if you thought about putting the design you've come up with just on the trunk? And I am pretty sure stuff was painted on the side of cars even after the g***er wars..=) Killer car! BTW
a nice semi gloss with pinstripes would make it pop..keep it simple, all the add on art gets it to the "over done" look too easy. The Centerlines or what ever those wheels are would have to go if it were mine..but it isnt ,, so rock on. car looks awesome..I like the less is more approach too
X2.................... I agree, the wheels are the deciding factor for me as to the lettering, with the current wheels it has the 70's pro street thing going, while cool, a repop Halibrand or such would lend itself to the nolstalgia lettering to look the period. Either way, you have a bad*** unique ride, my hats off to you for daring to be different!
If it's a pure race car and you have sponsors you have to letter it to get attention for your sponsors. Do you run an actual speed shop? if you do it's cool but if not I am not sure lettering will add anything to that car, let that motor do the talking. There was a nova in hot rod that was black on black and got nicknamed the murder nova it carried no signage but was cool as hell! If you do letter it spend some bucks on it, I like the idea you have but if you don't have a pro do it, it could look cheesy as hell!
You could paint it bright pink with flowers on it and it would not detract from the cars bad***-ness. That thing is cool!
Nice ride. I think changing wheels will have more positive impact on the personality of the car than paint or lettering.
Well, yes, primer is technically paint also. But it is meant to be covered over with the shiny stuff, not the finished product.
No I don't really consider primer as the final. But a Single stage with some flattner, I'm all for. I understand the love for shiney. But I can't get over my love for a well prepped and shot Flat black car, with all the chrome shined up, with maybe some super clean whitewalls. To me it just gets my Hot Rod blood boiling! I love the way they can almost look carved out of something.... you know what I mean?
Here is a example of one of my favorites. I absolutely LOVE this car, and could NOT imagine it any other color!
Sweet race car! I'm with the others(conformist) on old school flames. What ever look you decide, you have to live with it, not anyone else. Did anyone else think the PA guy in your video was from Two-Lane Blacktop? Here's a shot of my brothers Ford that I flamed up for him a few years back. Not a race car but maybe a look you might like.
It looks great in flat black, but, like you said, it's a straight race car. Some "Jersey style" lettering with the names of a couple of your sponsors would look appropriate, but don't over do it.
