I purchased a '38 Chevy PU cab and plan on fabricating my own frame and wondered if anybody has any pictures of their homebuilt frames, especially for '30 thru '40 pickups?

Have a look at my (spy pics 32). Built the frame in wood first, then had my buddy build it in 2x4 box tube. Used 3/4" wood wheels to set the ride height. You can always cut the wood or trim as needed to get the ride height and shape you want. The final frame came out just the way I wanted it.

117harv, how many hours have you got in that so far!? Is the body going to reflect the style of the frame cause i cant wait to see this thing done!

Start to finish about 65 to 70 hours fab, the frame gets clear coated and the body is done, it stays that way. I am getting ready to start a build of a pickup for me with a really sick chassis combining vintage parts, i.e. Banjo rear, AA truck axle and bones, mechanical brakes etc. and much wilder frame and cross members.

http://www.metalmeet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11273 Check out this thread....I apprenticed under Mr. Herman when I was a young lad...keep in mind they designed & built just about everyting as detailed in previous posts..control arms , rear end housing, frame/crosmembers,steering knuckles, rack, wheels, were all designed/fabricated by ralph & brian. I have built things using this method and it works very well, it is just time consuming doing the metal finishing..but with brian,s weld's there isnt too much of that.( he is probably one of the best welders I know that doesen't do it for a living anymore..he did have several stamps at one point in his career)I still struggle to live up to his standard , but I am still trying ...maybee one day, Shawn

The chassis for my Fiat has been built mostly at home with the help of several friends and family members. I couldn't do it without their help.:)
