Can anyone tell me if a set of 57 368 ECU heads will bolt on to a 52 317? Can I use the same push rods? Will the exhaust and intake bolt right up? Is it worth the swap, power wise?? Thanks for reading Also looking for a hot rod cam and a blower intake for a Lincoln 368.
physically they are the same,I think the head diameter on the 368 is slightly larger, but cannot remember for sure. The 368 rocker arms are a larger ratio, double check the valve to the top of the block bore for clearance, but doubt that will be a problem.Smith Brothers in Oregon will make you a nice 5/16 tubular push-rod if you are using a performance cam,3/8 pushrods may hit the pushrod hole in the head...happened to me,even though the hole is huge, just way off center.Check cornerfool for cams/blanks.Never seen a blower manifold for this engine, send me a picture if they exist or you find one .intake/exhaust all fit.If a rod,use the beautiful 332 truck "rams-head"manifolds.Cornerfool has a set as do I.
The heads will bolt on no problem The 57 ports are bigger than the earlier 317 head, You will want new pushods anyway since the stockers are those skinny solid type. 5/16 Smith Bros will work fine and should not have clearance issues. The later rockerarms are an upgrade as well. With the 368 heads you will need a lot more cam to take advange of the flow. One improvement always leads to another. Biggest improvement you can make is to ditch the early dual diaphram distributor and stick a 57 conventional centrifugal advance type in there
google y block ford ,they even have by monthly magazine, they can tell which parts will interchange. waterpumprebuilder@gmail.com can rebuild your water pump if you cant find one
As for a distributor, you can use the FORY 292/312 performance distributor, but you MUST put the lincoln drive gear on (1 tooth count difference between ford/lincoln gears)mallory are readily available.
