I read here somewhere about shimming torque convertors I'm about to install a 700R4 in my 64 Bel air and want to make sure everything is in corectly. In the back of my useless mind remember someone stating about the amount of movement the convertor should move when installing bolts excess would ruin pump. any help or re***urance would be great. hipkat

That would be me. When i had my ****** rebuilt thats what ED told me from ed case performance transmissions. Torque converter should just pull out away from ****** about 1/4 to 1/2 inch when you bolt it to flywheel. Ive got 3 washers on each of my torque converter bolts. Totals about 1/2 inch of spacer thickness.
