Next, the drive shaft coupler was removed in preparation for shortening. We are moving the rear axle foreword 6 inches.

Then the torque tube was put back on the trans and the rear end attached so we can locate the new rear cross member. The drive shaft will be cut and resplined tomorrow.

With the cross member location marked, the rear axle was removed and flipped over so we could shorten the rear wishbones. The ends were cut off and bolted back on to the mount on the torque tube, marked and then cut to length…

Nice. Amazing how fast stuff happens when you have a group of focused guys and a shop full of good tools. What is going on with that Model T wheel on the bench where you're welding the engine risers up?

That's a 'parts' wheel that Deek used a couple of spokes from to repair a wheel for a local guy that restores model a's and t's.

Well guys, I forgot my freekin' camera again when I went to the shop last night... We started working on getting the bed shortened, and we were talking about how to do the cab floor. The plates for the engine risers have been cut and fit, but we will weld those up later... oh, and we are going to put a side exit exhaust on it similar to the exhaust that is on my coupe.. we got the pipes and flanges yesterday. We are having date night tonight to keep all of the women happy, and then we will be back on the truck Thursday.... I might even remember to bring my camera!

I hear that, I keep telling Mike I want to come up but my lady is saying otherwise! I'll make it up there one of these nights if you'll have me! [IMG]

Back at it again. Larry (the owner of Salt City Speed Shop) cut the drive shaft 6" shorter and then resplined it...

Kris (loudpedal) so very cool. I can't wait until I get to start building mine. I hope that it turns out as nice as yours.
Sorry that I had to leave work and go somewhere else. but you know. If you can't make any money where you are. you need to find a new home. I wise that I did not have to leave. I love "most" of the people there.(I will not name names.) but I can't live on nothing. Tell dek that I'll save as fast as i can to buy the "T" as fast as I can.
    See you later.

...and I'm STILL working on the bed. I'll be glad when it's done...

Here is how we left it last night. It's starting to look good...

Tonight I'll continue to work on the bed [IMG] . Deek will be finishing the exhaust on the other side. Brandon and Tim will be finishing the rear cross member and Cory will be finished with the engine mounts.

Alright...I have a solid driveshaft that has been shortened and it ended up being a huge pain in the ***. The OD gets smaller right after the splines so it had to be built up with weld before resplining....how did you get around this...or did you just decide to let it ride?

  30. you guys worked last night?? looks like a lot has been done since I was up last.
