I dont see anything that deals wth a modified car or anything to do with "speed parts" Just a more in depth Street Racing punishment. From what i gathered its the same in the eyes of the law if you gas your Chevy Lumina at a light or your hot rod. Can anyone quote the law to help us understand?

http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/b...?ID=128_HB_191 you better read a little closer ! a law lawyer here in town was the one who told me about this . he say`s if the the law p***es any modifeld car can be pulled over and checked for nitrous and thats there reason to check and completely go through your car and theres not a thing you can do about it. after this is done any small town or highway ***hole cop can pull you over and run through you and your car! all he has to say is i think there may be nitrous on your car and that gives him the right. will your car p*** a compleat real safety check? do you want the trouble?

    Can you point that out?

It defines street racing, then says is you have nitrous the penalty is greater.

Stupid law, but not what you are saying it is.

We see these claims all the time. They rarely if ever turn out to be what they are claimed. Most of the times they are simply tactics to get money for this organization or that organization. "Help us fight laws like these, send your contribution (membership) to....".

Just curious as to why they would need your email address?

I just moved from ohio a fews years ago. Street racing was starting to become a big thing in a few areas. On the other hand there are alot of weekend warriors that have nitros bottles in their cars at all times. The import guys are the ones they need to go after. I had guys in hondas or jettas wanting to race everytime i drove my cutlas. i refused but did do a few stop light drags.

Man reading this law it really is stupid.....come on...the one sections appears to be outlawing any eletrical device caplable of transmitting or recieving a signal......Does that mean...CB radios, GPS System...etc?

man there is entirely toooooooooooooooooo many grey area written into the law.........They don't prpoerly enforce the laws that are on the books already.....Before p***ing NEW STUPID LAWS they should enforce the present laws and quit wasting our ****in taxpayer money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are already laws covering street racing.......ENFORCE THEM not add new!!!!!!!

I believe that section is describing what sort of electronic devices may be used in case of a conviction and the guilty person is required to wear a monitor.

too many idiots, and kids street racing in Ohio, I agree it's a problem.
that in and of it's self is not a reason to constrain modifying cars.

Ohio is trying to find everything they can to search vehicles, and irritate people as much as possible

Back in the 70s when 55 Chevys with straight axles were the thing, one tipped over on the street in Salem and the " protect 'em from cradle to grave", politicians of our state tried to p*** a NO MODIFICATION law that would have even stopped a citizen from putting a trailer hitch on a vehicle thet didn't come with on !! It died a timely death THANKS TO THE OREGON STREETROD ***OCIATION that was always looking into new automotive laws.......Unfortunately OSA doesn't exist anymore....who's a watchdog now ? Good Luck in Ohio youse guys !

florida tried doing something similar a few years back for motorcyclists.
they tried to p*** a law that if you were "stunting, speeding at speeds greater than 15 mph over the posted speed limit, you would immediately and permanently lose your bike and you would lose your motorcycle endor*****t for 10 years." i believe it also had jail time involved as well, but i'm not too sure.
the law never p***ed and i haven't heard anything about it since.
keep your heads up guys. remember, you can't be outlaws with out laws.:D

I'm not gonna try to piss on anyones party, but this law is only a proposal and got about 3 minutes on the floor. It was written by someone who knew someone that knew of someone that was involved in a wreck because of some jack*** kid hyped up on whipits with a late model GTO....This has personal interest written all over it. Simply stated if a cop pulls you over and says that he has reasonable cause to search your car for nitrous, you tell him to get a warrant. Its invasion of privacy and if you have N2O and he can smell it, then his eyes will be watering. I wouldn't lose any sleep over this one....I'd be more worried about a mandate on the cash for clunkers fiasco. The EPA is a way bigger threat. my.02
