On the flip side you have the members that have been on the HAMB for years and have contributed absolutely nothing to the community, only taken.

In Seesko's defense: If there's no heat in the garage, Winter tends to get long in the tooth. Much easier sit behind the monitor where it's warm. Now where's my parka?

  7. The age sterotype thing is a drag. You have a good grasp of the reality of life for 16. I've been where you are and so has everyone else on here. :)
We all have to learn and at 54 I'm still learning.
    Your on the right track.

  8. What he said. :p

  9. I've been around since 1954. You learn a lot. The world is full of some pretty good eggs and some real shit heads:p.
That just hafta put their 2 cents it. It doesn't matter how long you belong to some fourm that's just a vapor in the internet.
When I or anyone else joined has nothing to do with it. This place works just like the rest of the world:).

  10. And he hits one right outa the park!!!
    Good point :)

  11. I appriciate your advise Wil. I was just trying to covey the same thing to a few of the guys who arn't to sure about some of the stuff that goes on.
I see it just like you do. I think some of the younger guys know that most of us here are OK.
I'm not pissed at anyone, right now any way:p
I just see that there are a few vultures and negitive types that like to swoop down and spread their special kind of greetings to the unweary.
    Thanks for your good words

  12. For some people it's better to keep your mouth closed and let people wonder if you're an idiot than to open it and remove all doubt. I've been a member since Aug.08 and only have about 30 some posts I guess I don't feel the need to post unless I think I can contribute, that said , this is a great forum for info and input, but like anything else, take the good and use it and don't let the rest bother you. I've made several friends here and for me that's the best part.

peace love and granola, eat copulate and skydive, save the rainforest, whales, american eagle, talk often about shop safety, kiss your wife, kiss your girlfriend, never fear death , focus on eternity, your mom was a hippie, john lennon had bad taste in woman, Ryan giving out free food and beer at hamb drags, one out of every ten surfers die from shark attacks, why am i posting on this thread, who is your mamma ? ?

    no doubt im an idiot

  14. I'm too busy driving mine right now.:)

  15. The majority of the people here are super friendly and beyond helpful. Graciousness & respect will take you a long way. If you look around though, almost every posting has somebody who is the "devils advocate" or has been there and done it more than humanly possible. Those people remind me of a guy who told me how I have done every thing wrong on my 36 Ford and he knows because they had one just like it, except it was it a '59 rambler! Tell them to get screwed or just take it with a grain of salt... either way, talks cheep.
    Welcome aboard!

You know what over 3 1/2 years on the HAMB means with only 9 posts? That you haven't thanked enough people for the cool posts they place on here that you've been learning from. You are a "taker" here on the HAMB, you don't give back. A alittle show of apprecaition once in a while to someone who's done a neat tech or build post that you learned something from goes a long way.

If folks didn't reply with thanks, praise or questions on a post then it sinks to the bottom real quick and the original poster gets discouraged that no one apprecaites all the time and effort that went into making that post and then they don't bother doing another one in the future.

If you, or anyone else, reads a posts and learns from it you should THANK the author for it. It's the right thing to do.

There are ALOT of old time, well respected HAMB memebers who I've personally talked to regarding this subject. They rarely share any longer cuz they were tired of the drama filled crap posts getting thousands of hits/views and tons of replies and the good tech posts seeing little action.

I’m sure I’ll get flamed for this post but I get the same thing from my wife when I say the wrong thing and she clams up and then says that if I really knew her, I’d know why she is mad. So be it. I’ve had to learn not to dwell on it with her, and I have to learn the same lesson here.

  30. I'm still new but at my age I tend to speak my mind so here's my 2 cents worth on this subject. Remember you got what you paid for so don't jump me for my opinion. First of all comparing it to boot camp is too mild. Boot camp was a breeze. This place at times is more like prospecting for an outlaw motorcycle club. FNGs are assumed to be complete dickheads until they have proven themselves even though alot of the people I see passing judement on them seem to be old time professional dickheads themselves. I got a minor spanking in the very beginning for "creating drama" and I learned from it and will try not to let it happen again. But.. I see a few old time regulars here who seem to live for drama and start shit every chance they get and nobody says anything. There's one long time member who tried hard to bait me into an argument on a post about front brakes and I backed off. Well guess what.. he started arguing with someone else instead.. Well that's the way it is. They earned that right I suppose. We are like guests in someones house and the "family" who lives here make the rules and can ask us to leave at any time. Once our dues have been paid and we've been accepted we become part of that family and gain a few more rights. I'm still waiting for that and it may take awhile since I'm not about to be anybodys bitch and I do tend to speak my mind. Just because some old time member dissagrees with my opinion I'm not gonna back down if I know I'm right but I may walk away from the conversation if I feel I'm being baited into his drama. I've seen how that turns out first hand. I'll be the one who gets spanked while he wins by default. I've also seriously considered becoming an Alliance Member and will likely do that as soon as finances allow but the fact that I see ALOT of members with "banned" under their names give me second thoughts. Maybe it's due to the huge number of people who sign on here but it sure seems like it dosn't take much to get banned and if that's the case I'm holding off on sending any hard earned money until that's cleared up in my mind. It's well worth the price of admission if I can be fairly sure I'm not gonna get the boot at the first missed step. Any old time members care to enlighten me on why there are so many banned members and what they got banned for ? This is an awsome place and I've already learned a bunch and made a few friends and I look forward to many years hanging out here and learning the ropes. These are just my observations from the short time I've been here and my opinion is subject to change with time.
