Old guy here has a 48 ford for sale with a flatty with duel carbs on it . he says is from the factory .I didnt think FORD had offered twin carbs untill 56 or 57 .How bout it Did Ford Motor offer multi carbs?
Never. About the only performance oriented engine part that comes to mind is the special LH exhaust manifold Ford sold over their parts counter for '49-'53 car owners that wanted to install duals.
I was wondering this also, I seen a 52 ford F-4 tow truck in a bone yard with an aluminum 2x2 intake on it I was pretty young when I seen it and didn't look for any markings on it of any kind but looked to be an all stock flathead engine otherwise. What about the lincoln flathead did they ever offer a 2x2 on that for heavy trucks or Lincolns?

well its certainly been on there a long time.. Someone went to some effort to build that aircleaner..a lot more effort than most twin carb fitments would have in the fifties..two smaller cleaners would be the norm. could be an aftermarket setup that was sold with matching intake and aircleaner, and fitted when fairly new?
