2 dr sedan?? 4 door sedan to coupe???

lot of trouble . you can buy a coupe and save yourself some work. unless they are giving the sedan away.

Roof is different, so a lot of chopping is required, but on the briteside, nothing wrong with a sedan those years, they chop nicer in my opinion

its a 2 dr sedan....its a project but all the suspension work is done to it all it needs is a chop and motor and tranny for it to run.....im getting a good deal just that ive been wanting a hard top coupe just wondering if it would be a big hassle going threw all that trouble

friend of mine made a sedan into a coupe also chopped it. looks very nice it's different but when you look at it you really don't know what 's been done. it's not a long as a sedan but not a short as a coupe......but super cool it is

Chopped my 49 sedan 5",pulled the back glass forward to meet the roof line. It's not as short a roof as a coupe but it looks smooth as has the long rear deck look. I had a chopped coupe roof to put on it but like this look more better. It's also a hard top now.

If you already have one chopped, why not leave the roof height alone on this one, hardtop it, and then take 3 1/2 or 4" out of the body. After all that you could nose and deck it, roll the pans, put some nice shiny paint on it, and add thin section blade bumpers or hand built nerf bars.

Nice part about sectioned cars is they don't have to look like they're dragging the ground to look low and sleek.

Not likely to see your twin out there either because there are few among us with the skill and determination to pull off a section job.

  11. Joee do you have pics of it

I guess it's all about preference, but I prefer the roofline on coupes, both stock and chopped. The first car is a sedan, the second a coupe. The sedan roofline is just too long IMO.

Ive got a question regaridng the hardtops or whatever you want to call it when there is no B pillars. First of all holy crap all of the cars on this thread is sweet. My dream car is a chopped shoebox, anyway do you install windows or how does that work? Just deal with it and have it open or is there a way to have the windows made or what???

Some of the old customs form followed funtion, i mean no side windows, it is socal after all. It even happens today with show cars. The others did some extensive modification to put them in, after all hardtops were common in the mid to late 50's

That said, i'd love to see how some of the modifications were done

  26. We already made the fixture for making the side glass window
frames. Winfield showed us some tricks on that.

  27. Heat up a piece of flat bar 1 1/2 x 1/4 incn. Make a template to the
curves you need. Curve the bar to the shape you need. Put the piece aside
you will use it later. Look at your side window channel that moves the window up and down,it is shaped like a " u " ventilation companies can make this shape for you if you don't have the tools . Ask them for 8 foot lengths 14 gauge 1/2 x 1/4 by 1/2 inch in stainless steel. Put your piece over the fixture you made earlier. Clamp them together at one end and heat the stainless pulling it around the fixture, works perfect. Tig weld up the corners . Done

Jeez...that's a real nice car! I think with the chrome back on around the side windows it would look even better than a hard top.

  29. hambone...
