It would probably bring a couple bills on auction. Is it a large logo? It could be a replacement carb which wouldn't bring as much. Nice find though, they are still out there, someplace.

It sounds like a remanufactured one I used to have that came in an original box with tag. I sold it for $225.00. Hell, it might even be the same one I sold here at a swap meet.

...and lighten up guys...he's only 15 years old...

If this post would have come up a few years back, this dude would be crying right now because of the royal flaming treatment he would be receiving.

HRP - probably the wrong forum for your question. Many on here are looking at the unit from a hot rod standpoint, and since it is your first post, figure you should have done an introduction post.

If you truly have a new old stock Stromberg 97, it WILL have value to someone restoring a 1935~1938 Ford. The reason I asked for the tag number is that Stromberg made 14 different carburetors marked "97", plus some replacement units which may/may not be marked "97". Stromberg placed a rectangular tag on the carburetor when new. The tag would contain the date produced; the assembly number (i.e. A-12345); and, if O.E. the original equipment manufacturers number (i.e. 2-1, 2 being the code number for Ford). Replacement units might have the assembly number as J-12345 (the J denoted aftermarket).

Positively identify the unit, and try somewhere like the AACA forums. None of the reproductions are exact, and would lose points on a show car. An original would certainly have value to a restorer.

And don't be discouraged by some of the sarcasm you read.

And just for the record, the one pictured in the post by Fordrat31 is an aftermarket unit, NOT o.e. thus would lose points on a show car.

But for a hot rod, who cares.

Don't let the tough guys with keyboards scare you off...this place is a wealth of information. You just have to grow a thicker skin to put up with it...kinda like High School except most here have pot bellies...

Now having said that, introduce yourself to the board so they know who they are talking to, and then give me your address so I can come steal it while you are sleeping...

it's pretty simple...use the keyboard to type in your address...then leave the garage unlocked.
