When I was a kid my folks used to make our Christmas cards every year. I wound up with a box with some of the old linoleum blocks they carved. This one is dated 1955 on the back. I'm going to make up a dozen or so and send them out to some friends and relatives. Yes, it feels weird....it's been a few decades since we did this.

I did one in High school like that, I still have the block around here somewhere in one of those boxes of junk that you never throw away. it was a Santa face with Merry Christmas.

if i start looking now I may find it by next Christmas

Hand made stuff is dying here in America, so go for it and keep tradition alive!

Whoa, that brings back some memories, last time I did that was back in the 70's in school. Same roller same green ink not sure if we did the carving or not.

Now I now what to do with that mint in the box Lineoleum cutting set I found at garage sale a few years back. just got to find the lineoleum.

    Cool thanks for sharing.

more stuff. I think I carved the candle, it's dated 74 in what looks like my handwriting. I seem to remember messing up the flame a little bit with the cutter, too.

Too cool. Love to see the way things were done. Too commercialized nowadays.

Its funny how much things have changed. I got a letter last month from an old high school buddy. Just a handwritten letter. He's had lots of health issues and was now in a long term care facility. No computer.
It took a week for me to sit down and write him back. I was intimidated by the process of hand writing an actual letter. Ill bet its been 15 or more years since I had done that.
Talk about traditional.. man, what a weird feeling.

Squirrel, it's really cool that you still have that stuff. Must bring back lots of good memories. I use to do lino cut block printing a long time ago. I also did alot of silkscreening. Hand made stuff is waay better than store bought, but every hot rodder knows that!

    very cool.

We used to make our cards as well. My dad would carve a potato into shapes and us kids would dip them in ink and stamp them on the paper.

  25. In the last few years I made my own christmas cards. I wrote as though I was Henry Ford and sent them to my (old ford) friends. I downloaded old or original pics from the net to decorate them with . ie: the Christmas tree at Little Dearborn etc. Always made them chuckle. Tim
