    Almost summer today 22 degrees
went to the junkyard in search of 55 Desoto's & Chrysler's hardtops
got there around noon at French Lake 100 acres of cars with a couple of inches of snow
    [IMG]
here's a shot of one section of the yard
    [IMG]
a 48 Buick fastback a friend sent here and now he wonders why he let it go
    [IMG]
came across this 55 Desoto sedan no hardtops yet
    [IMG]
walked half the yard found this 57 Desoto
i did find bunch of 55 Desoto & Chrysler hardtop, took photos but the memory must be full, so this is it

got my exercise and found some cars
the thing about going to the yard for me is the hunt and my taste for cars changes

If you've been to the yard lately feel free to post your finds here if you want

  4. You could come up with your own line of HAMB-friendly Christmas cards with those pictures.

Have you been to that yard before or was this your maiden search there? Looks like there could be quite a few projects to be had.......How are they to deal with?

This is my favorite time of year to go" junkyardin",you dont have to worry about all those damn snakes that seem attracted to old cars.:)

Looks like a cool yard. I agree with 6-71 no snakes or spiders this time of year. When I got my truck they were out there, my truck had Black Widow's living it !!!

French Lake Auto Parts Annandale Minnesota here the link > http://www.frenchlakeautoparts.com/

here's some answers to your questions
" is this Heaven" well that's what i thought the first time i went there

no, not my first time out there to FLAP been going the for 25 years or more there is a turn over in cars so it's new every time for me, guys loose interest in there cars or die and find there was to French Lake

with me it's a never ending chapter with Buick Olds Pontiac & Studebaker my main loves, now i'm looking at 55 Desoto & Chrysler and some other years with the right look

had a 61 Desoto hardtop that was there last year, bought it from a Dodge dealer for $500 nice car as you can tell by the price that was a long time ago

guess you might say i lean toward orphan cars

the hike out there was for 55 Chryslers & Desotos but i'm alway open to something cool that pops up

hey 36 it was a spur of the moment thing when the feeling moves you thing, went by myself cabin fever set in early snow blower, not needed they plow the yard there is a big St Bernard serving the houch :D

there good to deal with Floyd is the owner and 396skip is his son

Christmas Cards yep i started my own line years ago, nothing like a cool piece of iron in a yard or peeking around a corner

this one was for my wife, it's a Yard Mark i thought the car looked nice as a Christmas decoration she didn't [IMG]

I've been going there for 30+ years. A great place to just walk around. They have a lot of vintage tin as well. I got some window garnish for my 40 sedan there years ago. I was impressed.

...I was there many years ago; good to see the stuff is still available; that's a great yard as is Windy Hills not far from there. You Minnesota guys have it good with those old yards.

Been there too many times but only once when it was that white. Pulled a cylinder head for my '57. It was way cold and the car was all the way in back, pretty sure Bull was along for that one, winter of 95/96. The snow keeps the dust down and the cold kills the bugs!

Some are real rusty, but many are surprisingly solid. Skip and Floyd do a good job of keeping good stuff and moving stuff out that is too far gone. I was out a month ago and they are still bringing in new, pre 74, cars and trucks. Worth a call or a visit if you're in the area and need something.
