i've got a 64 biscayne wagon with the orig column shift three speed.the problem i am having is ounce and a while i will shift from first to second, the second / third gear lever will drop down and the shifter will stay in first.the shifter will not move and i have to park the wagon, open the hood and manualy move the second/ third gear lever up and down to free up the first/ reverse lever.is there an adjustment in the column or does someone make a rebuild kit for these?has anyone else had this problem?any help would be cool. thank you, jimmy. those rubber bushings on the linkage wear out. there are two on top and two down on the ******.

  3. Iv seen that once before, ended up being worn tension spring inside the lower jacket. To do it right you should remove the column and carefully dis***emble it using one of the old shop service manuals. Sometimes you can temp fix that problem by adjusting the lower most adjusting ring to remove excessive backlash. Also lubricate that **** well...Goodluck.
