The problem isn't that they don't match, the problem is that the outside is hideous.

Just my lingo, I always referred to windshield and rear window removal as "cutting".

I wouldn't consider this car east coast or west coast or Florida style. It looks more to me like the 1980's revival of the 1950's style. That seems to have been the formula for a while, get any car of the era, add some gaudy accessories, paint it a pastel color and letter it with the name of an old song. Then you're ready to comb what's left of your hair into a ducktail and cruise to the show. You just know there's a pair of giant homemade fuzzy dice and some throw pillows that say "sea cruiser" on them in the trunk, waiting to make an appearance.

  6. I think the $10-12K estimates are pretty accurate, if not generous. Even if you repainted it, that interior ****s. It just looks super cheap to me with the wavy s***ching (unless that's the pictures).

I don't really see the benefit of trading for something that requires substantial money to flip. I happen to love '60 Buicks, but even if that car were dialed it's going to take the right person, as with any custom.

What's the other car he wants to put in the package, if you don't mind me asking?

Do you really want the Starliner in the hands of a no-taste doofus, especially if you are the one left holding the item of said tastelessness?

    Kirk,

I'd allow him $7000 on it & hope to make a 5K profit without having to paint it..... if I was looking for some kinda damn punishment for some reason.

In reality, I'd tell him to sell his car & call me when he had the $$$.

That SOB is ugly as a man's *** & it will **** your soul out through your nostrils if you let it. Leave it alone!

The d****s don't match the carpet.

Get into this car, and when you go to sell it some other doofus will want to trade you his $5000 car for the $12,000 Buick.

    Wait for cash.

I agree that it could be *****in all freshened up and THEN it would bring the $25k. But do you want to go through all that? For a more realistic price, someone will give that car a loving home just the way it is. But that has been his problem all along hasn't it??

What's the 2nd car he is offering up?

    This jack*** might want it.

15k at most painted. But to trade a Liner....NO WAY! Have the owner sell it and give you 25k.

If he paints it blue and white with lace and adds a custom steering wheel and dash, it might just leave him back where he started.
Kirk, get what you want or need, don't stettle or give your self more work than you need. Your Starliner is real nice.
    just a thought.

$14k. Not a super desirable car. The work that needs to be done on it makes it less desirable.

Man the car market s u c k s right now...why you gonna try to unload someone else's problem when you know it needs paint, plus it's an off brand, too?

Whatever he thinks it's worth, I'd credit him maybe half of that, what a headache you're taking on.

That car looks like someone puked a good guys show on it.

I'm think more like $1,200-1,500 ....whatever the used engine is worth.

I'm not sure I like the interior that much either...so if you paint it and make it cool on the outside, well then maybe you don't like the upholstery anymore... but if you buy it and stores it for 20 years you will have an ultra rare true 1990s style custom barnfind. I guess not too many of those will survive! It could be a good investment for you :)

  22. Haha, now I finally know what the headlight bezels on my 60 Ventura came off of. I've been looking at pics of various cars but never seen the exact same ones, those are them.

Guys, the interior on that car doesn't look great either. It looks cheap and cheesy to me. It looks like it was put together well, but the materials, from the pictures, have a really low rent look to them, like what some kid would put into a Ricer project. I can't put my finger on it but that's the vibe I get from the interior shots.

Heres what I would do.. say, "ok, if its worth twentyfive, you sell it quickly for twenty (easy right? waaay under market in your estimation), give me twenty, and Ill take twentyfive off the value of my car. Or, we just value it at ten. your choice."
that will shut him up, as he knows he will never get twenty for it.

    I would p***.
Your Starliner is a kick *** car. Like someone said, Unless there is a boat load of cash included in the deal, yet... I would still be hesitant to go thru with it.

Something tells me that I forsee an "I f%&#d up thread" in the future if you happen to make the deal. just a feeling.

It's worth what YOU think it's worth, KIRK! Having seen your Sunliner, this Buford would have to have a completely new paint job, or a completely new interior done, so that one matches the other. That color combo would take a minimum of $15K to rectify, either way. I like that Buick body style, but both the interior and exterior, as it sits, scream "TASTELESS!"

I think offering the guy $10K for the car would be extremely generous. Nothing about that car would interest me, as a buyer. Why take his problem-child?

    I'd p***.

Gotta go with Harrison on this one. I love 60 Buicks myself but 60 Buicks are not expensive real estate to begin with, at least not in the midwest.
Eagletucky on here had a very nice, 48K mile original that he bought of a Hamber from Michigan. He gave way less than 10K for it. He enjoyed the car for a few years and went to sell it and he had to find that special buyer for it.
It was a black 2 door hardtop with stock red and black guts and didn't look like someone had driven it thru a J C Whitney warehouse really slow.

C'mon...wake up. You know you don't take something in for trade for re-sale, just bad ****ing business, unless you like the looks of it it your garage.
