who make a good heater other than spedway?

  1. A lot of the later factory GM ones can be adapted around and are somewhat compatable with one another to adjust where the fan ends up and so on, particularly if you're not looking to add air conditioning. And you can come up with all sorts of vents and things that can be adapted around to give you defrost, vent and heat if you want. I try to save them when I really gut a car to s**** it. Hard to beat, price-wise.

Here is what I came up with after a six pack of Keystones, it's a Stewart Warner heater I picked up at a swap meet for $20. I belive it hooked up to the carb and was gas fired. I removed the burner ***embly, rolled up 7 rows of 3/8 copper, and installed in housing. I still have to find a replacement motor or computer fan for the old one. Should make plenty of heat, but will not know for sure until finished.

The heater unit from early Austin Minis are popular over here, I've had major problems trying to get someone to re-core my original Chevy heater core.
I guess I might give the Mini unit a try. They're small, self contained and easy to fit.

I wondered about availability for you guys over the pond, but this one was in Toronto.
A buddy of mine had one in his '52 pick-up and it did the job just fine.
It was easy to hook up and had defrost too.

This is one that I scored at a swapmeet back in the spring . Had the core rebuilt , & put a 12voltdc computer fan from Radio Shack in it . The knob on the bottom door was missing so I whacked another one out of a peice of aluminum .

I used an old Arvin and put a 12v fan in it, looks right not like some of the one's you buy these days.

Any idea who's make or year it is?
im sure there is going to be alot removed from this unit to use it in my A, it looks to be complete, even has the blower ducting and a few other things that make it too deep of a unit to use like it is, (at least thats what it looked like in the pictures)

There was one of these on eBay that ended yesterday, $60.00 starting bid and it ended with no bids on it. Your heater looks awesome.

    Von,
I got no idea what it is. I've seen a few of them since I got it. One guy said that he thought maybe a Firestone. No names on any of the parts. For me it looked cool and was 10 bucks without the core at a swap meet.
