So I think my right front brake hose is colapsed on my 68 a100. Everywhere I look for new ones, only go up to 66. I dont really want to take em off to compare em, cuz as it is, it stops. Anyone been here before? Are they any different? thanks

Root66, I checked rock auto and only found the rear hose. Am I doin somethin wrong?

Pchop51, So your sayin f100 hoses will work on a dodge a100 van?

  5. Many real parts stores (as in NAPA or locally owned mom-and-pops as opposed to the chain stores like Auto Zone, Advanced, Pep Boys, etc.) are equipped to make brake hoses. Just a matter of matching the fittings on each end, cutting the right size brake hose to length, and putting it together. If you don't have a genuine old fashinnoed parts store nearby, check with places that do 4WD conversions, lift kits, etc., as they often need brake hoses that are not available off the shelf and are usually equipped to make them on site.

  6. choptopdoc , i just checked Rockauto also and they do not list a front hose. neither does Napa or O'Reilly

but checking Napa it shows your front wheel cylinders have 7/16-20 thread (fyi same as early ford).can i ***ume the the other end for the line is 3/16 inverted flare? so it would be a simple matter of finding a hose in the back of the book at any good auto parts store to find a hose with those ends and the length you need

Napa should have a catalog with dimensions and end types. All you need is to find a parts man who knows how to read them. Take it off, pack it to the NAPA store and tell the counter guy, "I need one to replace this". Don't go to the young kid, go to the crusty old fart that has been there forever. Or go to any old mom and pop parts house that uses catalogs instead of the computer. It or a replacement can be found you just need to hunt for it in the right way.
Schucks shows three hoses for a 68 A100, all are listed for the rear but they are showing a center and a left and right. http://www.schucks.com/ProductList.aspx?parttype=228&ptset=A&searchfor=Hose,+Brake I clicked on the what else it fits on the left hose and then checked one of those applications and it shows to be a front hose for that application.
it may or may not be the right hose but I doubt that the A100 has three hoses on the rear axle.

I had the same problem with a 69 dodge van brake hose for the front brakes. I found a hose at napa but it needed an adapter on the upper end where the tubing hooks on.

Here's the quote from their website:

    AUTOSPECIALTY / KELSEY-HAYES Part # HB87002
Front; 1/2 TON; TO SERIAL #2079068 [Wholesaler Closeout -- 30 Day Warranty] (Only 4 Remaining) $8.53

  10. Here's my idea: you DO need to take the old one off to compare it to the new. Why?? Because after 40 years, some typos can creep into old writings, even parts catalogues can become inaccurate.

I, myself, have NEVER received the wrong part based strictly on part number, but I have heard of it happening.
