My dad had never built a hotrod in his life but always wanted to....he found a rusty 37 pickup and built his own 2X3" frame with a pinto front suspension...hell, he even used the old rope steering shaft and 4 lug front rotors... He bolted in a 67 mustang 289/automatic and rear axle. The box was shot so he made his own wood flatbed and painted it in his garage...another first. He also used the 67 mustang wire harness. He prefered driving his model A pickup to the 37 and when I went out to visit him in 2000 he let me use it to attend a cruise in town....35 miles away. When I got the pickup back to his house I complained about the vague steering, overheating engine and headlights that went out and came on as they pleased...he explalined he'd never driven it more than 2 miles! When he died my brother inherited it. Left it as-is until he sold it to another guy in town..
here`s mine, not finished but it will be flathead powered, dropped axle, juice brakes and original wheels and caps.
If you join the 35-36 Ford PU Group, youll get pleanty of pictures. I dont know how to link it or I would.
Pre-74 Pinto/Bobcat used a steel cable between the steering column at the firewall and the rack and pinion on the front crossmember. Pinto/Bobcat and Mustang II had 4-lug rotors.
Thanks guys, thats cool, i just joined the group! Im new to building these myself....have had a few built for me now i'm trying my own hand
Found this one sitting in a driveway here in town a few weeks ago...nobody home - left note...no response.
Here is a small pic of my old truck , from about 12 yrs a go , that photo was taken at the 50th Bonneville in 1998 , flathead powered. That truck is where the LimeWorks Speedshop logo was born. I love 37 trucks .
two brothers, and good friends of mine just brought two 37 pick ups. Figured id do some searching and found this thread. Thought id bounce this back to the top, and see what other 37s are about. So post them picks. Thanks fellas.
