I was drivin Thursday in Chicoppe, MA when coming the other way the PETER PAN Futurliner what a site to see this cruzin at 60mph I wish I could have taken a few pics but found a few from there garage in Springfield, MA Here is a little history of the bus ........... http://www.futurliner.com/pan.htm
There is one of those in Southern California. It came to the Antique Nationals a few years ago. It's a little different inside - it has been converted to a bar.
There is a futureliner on display in the GM Heritage museum in Sterlling Heights Michigan. I saw it, though it is a display not open to the general public. The original futureliners went throughout the country, even going to places like county fairs.
ron pratt bought one at barrett jackson a few years back to the tune of 4 million dollars and then drove it to his shop museum. last i heard squeeges customs in mesa az was doing some resto work on it
I believe that the Futureliner that was recently restored and was seen at the 2009 AACA Fall Hershey meet is on display at the Hershey AACA Museum until Spring... could not confirm this on their website.
Cool, I didn't think any of those were still on the road, or anywhere in that good of shape. Thanks for the pics.
I remember being at work at the Design Center the day of the Eyes on Design Show and GM's 75th, when in the early morning that Futurliner came pulling in the front, we all stopped work to watch the driver steer that thing. Truly an awesome sight to see.
In 1999 I was offered no less than three Futureliners which were being sold by Bill Pozzi in Mission Viejo, CA. One was in Long Beach, CA ($12,500), one in Phoenix AZ ($8,500) and one in Dana, Indiana ($29,500). He had started buying them in 1994 and they had previously sat for a long time in a storage facility in Chicago when they were retired from service in 1956. There were a total of 12 of these made. One is/was in the San Fernando Valley - burgundy and white, another was in Canada owned by a mobile phone company called FIDO. The red and white bus purchased by Ron Pratte is, I think the one that was in Dana, IN. I still have the photos and information that was sent to me
Consider it confirmed. It was there, restored to original 'Parade of Progress' specs, as far as I could tell.
Futurliner #8 is in Sweden, currently under restauration: http://svt.se/2.33919/1.1749234/futurlinern_rustas_upp_for_framtiden http://svtplay.se/v/1813843/vasterb...66516,1,f,-1/pl,v,,1813843/sb,k104714,2,f,-1= Notice the custom in the background in the shop!!
I see that futurliner all the time! Any one that is from the Western M*** area sees it one a year at the peach fetival car show in Wibraham, MA.
I JUST SAW ONE THIS WEEK AT THE AACA MUSEUM IN HERSEY PA. THEY ALSO HAVE A GREAT NUMBER OF OLD BUSSES IN THE BA*****T AREA. GOLGOTHA.
I am working on hauling one to a show in Chicago in August just for bragging rights.(OK maybe get to sit behind wheel) They need someone to haul their lowboy trailer for charity show.hope it works out its not often you get to haul something like that
There was a red and white one at the Rhinebeck swap meet and car show last year. It was brought in on a flat bed truck. Its prety impressive. Pat
I know this is an old post but I found it floating around. The one you've seen at shows is # 10 the one that NATMUS in Auburn Ind. owns. Ron Pratt bought the Fido Bus out of Canada ar BJ in 06, it hasn't been seen out at all or much since. There is one right now on Egay, that is #7 from the Peter Pan bus co, it was green and was recently repainted. There was an unrestored one at auction in Auburn Ind in May this year it didn't sell, it may go back to Auburn in the fall to the World Wide auction.
Here's #7, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1939...4467378?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item4aacaafeb2, only if I had a lazy $500K laying around to start the bidding Not entirely original but who cares, Detroit diesel with Allison auto.
