I've been snowed in here for a couple days so I decided to show what I've been working on for the last year or so. It's a 30 A sedan I picked up in knoxville tn. It was in pretty rough shape when i started.
First step for me was to blast the frame and make a roller out of it. I used a super bell 4"drop axle and a set of speedway hairpins with ford square back spindles.
Now... You know it illegal to come to Tennessee and take ANY vintage stuff outta here. So, to save yourself any problems, just bring it back to my shop. Just kidding! looks like some really nice metal to start with. Keep us posted. Kevin Ooltewah Speed Shop
after getting it cleaned up and in a coat of dp primer it was in better shape than it looked when i first got it. Just in need of the usual lower patch panel all around and new subrails. along with it's share of dents and dings. Also hed to replace all the wood supports in the body.
Then it was time for a little off the top. Took out 3" the chop went really smoothly for my first one. then filled the hole with a jeep cherokee it fit really well after we turned it around backwards
I picked up a cool dash from a 35 buick at the spring autofair in charlotte. It fit like a glove over the the original model a cowl support
my original plan was for a small block chevy until i found this. It a 56 354 hemi. I've collected all my parts for the rebuild, now just waiting for the machine shop to get done with their part
also picked up an old set of e-t five spokes Had to do alot of polishing to bring them back but i think it was worth the effort I'm still not sure I like the look of the widened rear fenders though
wich brings it to where I am at now, waiting for the machine shop and the glass shop. Hopefully by the time I get it back from having the glass installed I will have the hemi back and assembled so I can redo the motor mounts. Then i will be able to get the body off and finish dressing up the chassis and paint it. I'm hoping to have this thing on the road by spring
ice work on a neat car. I don't care much for widened fenders but the car is gonna be killer regardless.
Hey, nice job on the sedan. What year cherokee roof did you use? I want to fill the roof on mine too. Thanks.
I got the top from a 98 jeep grand cherokee. Just cut the center out and turned it around backwards. It fit like it was made to go there. I only had to use one relief cut on each rear corner to get it to lay down perfect.
This is the only pic I got of the roof before I did the finish mud work on it. But the jeep foor really did fit the curve of the model a very nicely.
