hey all, iv got a complete ac/heat set up from hot rod air, someone gave me to go on my flathead, in my sedan.
well, im at that point where i need to make my mind up,
how taboo is it to run ac in your hot rod ?
damn i live in dallas and its 102 days here in the summers, i mean, iv been driven my ol chevy truck all my life with no ac, but this sure is tempting.
    what say ye ?

I think if you can hide it go for it. It was free and if it gets you more seat time.

I believe that if you're considering it you should do it. When I was in my 20s it wouldn't have ever occurred to me to have AC, heat didn't bother me and I wouldn't have sacrificed the power to run it. Now it wouldn't occur to me to have a car without it.

    Do it.

The older you get, the more you'll appreciate not getting cooked in the summer heat.

Hell, you might be able to actually enjoy driving it in the summer.

Alan Grove is producing a tight clearance A/C bracket that will mount the compressor on the lower p*** or driver side of the vehicle (gotta take the mech fuel pump off for the p***enger side as the mount uses those bolts) it buries the compressor in the bowls of the engine compartment if your worried about seeing the compressor....all the lines and driers you can stash outta sight under fenderwells and behind grills etc....I say go for it.

No reason why hot rod drivers should ne enjoy the comfort of A/C, or working suspensions, or seat springs, or turn signals or outside rear view mirrors, or seat belts or a nice pecan strudle and kolaches(real Czech pastries, not "pigs-in-a-blanket").

Go for it. I'm putting ac in the 48 this time around because my wife and I spent way too many years roasting our ****s off in that thing on different trips.

I can understand having it discreetly mounted and not having blatant ac outlets sticking out there for the world to see but there is a way around most things if one works at it a bit. Having lived in Texas for several years back years ago I can tell you that you will be willing to drive more often and further if you have the air.
