Ok, so I arrived here in San Antonio on Saturday...and it rained...and rained...and rained! I'm here for my second phase of training--OJT--I get to work in the hospital now! (Yay! Blood, Urine and Catheters, oh, my!) I finished my cl***room training (13 weeks at Sheppard! Ick!)--good for all you guys I see at shows or in the shop--I'm now EMT-B certified! So when you start your legs on fire from welding with those frayed shop pants of yours...I (mostly...sorta-kinda...vaugly) know what to do! The library here is really nice--and I don't have to wait for hours to just look at the HAMB. So maybe you guys'll see a bit more of me! Hey, I'll be home for 10 days or so for holiday exidous. Hope to see some of you! Oh, and just to clear it up--I say "I hate Texas" so much because Texas is about as far away from Tuck as I could get....sho shad....HA! -Jolene
Hang in there...it doesn't usually rain THIS much. Maybe I can get Crease and ChuckleHead Al and you can join us for a cup o coffee or beer or somethin in the near future. If nothin else, it's always fun to show off Crease's pig pen, err, I mean garage.Tuck has my number...
Well...you just haven't been to the right places! I live about 5 miles from Lackland and that isn't the side of town where everything is! Sorry you had to come in during all the rain...it was pretty rotten these last few days. Drop me a PM sometime if you are going to be in SA for a while and I'll let you know about live music shows, etc...if you are interested in that kind of stuff. There are a few places for "cruise nights" on Fridays. Pig Stand on Broadway and the Forum shopping center on IH-35N near Live Oak, and I hear that the old Harper's hamburger joint (it's now a Mexican restaurant) near the Bun-n-Barrel is starting a cruise night again. My pop retired from the Air Force after 25 yrs and still works there civil service doing the same thing he did for the 25 yers while he was in...right there on Lackland. Enjoy the rest of your stay...Happy Thanksgiving. Adios, Buzz '54
LACKLAND!!!!!! God I remember that place, I'll never forget the first night I stepped from the bus onto that base and the screaming began......"I was like, Whoa bro, back it up, what the the hell did I do to fire you up??????" After Lackland I went to Chanute in Ill. which then was the host base for the Fire Academy. Nothing like playing with Water and Fire in -0 temps. All that being said, suprisingly enough, the Air Force was one of the best times I ever had in my life. I always refer to it as my college years. Met some great friends, travelled and drank way to much (Godbless the cl*** 6). Have a great time on the governments dollar because they won't hesitate to inconvience you and get there moneys worth!!! Best wishes Big Dirty
Greetings Frisky, With enough har***ment, Tuck has kept me informed on your success. Big congrats on your tests and advancements!! Definitely drop me a line when you're back in the land of ice, snow, and cheese...........we've got some surprises for you. take care

[ QUOTE ] Texas is a long way from Canada. I don't think they let Texans in Canada. [/ QUOTE ] Actually they do. My new wife who is from Dallas was in Vancouver in July. But they did provide a chaperon, and would not let her interact with the locals. Something about educating the m***es on the Death Penalty.
[ QUOTE ] isnt Canada just another name for NORTHERN MEXICO [/ QUOTE ] no, Steve...you're thinking of "San Antonio".
Welcome to TExas it will be 90 tomorrow and then back down to 30 Sunday with a chance of rain. Stay another day and it will change again. THis is why you need 2- 3 cars to live here. Hope you enjoy your stay.
Thanks, guys! The AF has been good to me so far--I just can't wait to get home to Tuck--I haven't even seen the roadster yet! Or the chop...It feels like I've missed out on sooo much! -Jolene
