So I was flicking through lowrider magazine the other day , and someone had sent in a letter saying they wished that the magazine covered other cars , other than impala's. At the end of the magazine some readers had sent in photos of their cars - i thought this was kinda funny. If you look close you can see the script says : "Will Goss and Brad Johnson's 65' Ford galaxie's " But we all know they are 64's, I geuss maybe they only know about Impala's - I think thats a shame, there are so many nice 60's cars they could feature. Just a little entertainment L
I have to say I agree with that sentiment. Impala's are definitely overdone. The lowrider scene is full of guys who are really innovative in a lot of ways, suspension, paint, interiors. . but they don't seem to be able to go against the crowd and step up with a different 60's car. A stock restored impala on juice and daytons doesn't even get my attention anymore.
Fords make not so great "LOWRIDERS"..thats probably the reason nobody cared at lowrider mag to tell the difference... ..thats funny hehehe
[ QUOTE ] Fords make ****ty "LOWRIDERS".. [/ QUOTE ] What are you talking about?...Don't you remember Walk Proud (1979)......with Robby Benson, one of the few lowrider movies ( Although, I thought he wasn't very convincing as a Chicano gang member in a L.A. ).......But, that 60 Ford Starliner 2dr Hardtop with Cragers was the **** back in those days.....hehe
[ QUOTE ] blvd. magazine is out of business .....but i liked it alot....... [/ QUOTE ] Yeah Blvd. was a cool mag.... Street Low is pretty good..Lowrider Mag is full of ads nowadays... Chevy's and lowriding have always gone hand in hand...To tell ya the truth..It took me quite awhile to start digging Fords. I grew up around lowriding Chevy's. When I started going to Bob's and Paso is when I started to appreciate Fords and Mercs.
Thanx for the heads up, I was wondering about the mag. Street Customs is cool too.. But Lowrider is full of ads, but lately they've had, Heidi van Horne, Carina Caliente, and a bunch of pin up gals, pertty damm cool..But the bombas I cannot live without..
[ QUOTE ] Heidi van Horne, Carina Caliente, and a bunch of pin up gals, pertty damm cool..But the bombas I cannot live without.. [/ QUOTE ] I ****ing agree.. the only reason I'll buy it nowadays is cause they'll have a good feature on a bomb done right
Galaxie's are awesome. I don't care if they aren't that popular, I think the body lines are smoother than impalas and are just plain better looking. What I don't get is why are the impalas such a big deal? Aren't they a low end model? I would rather have a caprice. (I doo like impalas, don't get all fussy) I watched a show last night about "Hotrod 2004" or something on TLC. This comedian drove a '56 FOOSE Custom Ford with all these other cool rods. All these hotrodders and the overhaulin team ( i don't remember exactly) Followed all these hotrodders all around the country. Anyways they stopped at a little po-dunk auto museum and they showed Galaxies! on tv! I was pumped up to see galaxies actually gettin' some recognition. They even referred to some of them as "mythical" like unicorns. - Hell yah! Did anyone else see that? I miss my '63. That will all change soon... Muwhahwhah! Tell me this isn't badd***... and it is stock! -just lowered a bit! http://img99.exs.cx/img99/9301/64ride.jpg
It's good too see people can appreciate Lowrider's on here. Walk Proud is cool, but have you ever seen "Blvd. Nights".. Now that's a bad *** movie..
Tuck posted some cools pics of his Gal for me when I joined the forum. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=597502&page=&view=&sb=5&o=&fpart=4&vc=1 I love what he is doing to it.
I am going to go get those movies you all mentioned. Someone posted that Hollywood Knights was a hotrod movie and I went and got that last week. Robert Wuhl... lol was stupid movie but had some cool cars. Was Rail-Job a hip name for a hotrod, or was that the actual name of that guy's car? My girlfriend said that sounded dirty, but who knows what the hell she is talking about. - I just made fun of Tony D. every time I saw him trying to be serious.
Almost all of those movies were cheesy.......most of them lacked good acting and a believable plot....but they were just fun for having some cool cars in them....... Don't forget about the Cheech and Chong movies...they had some bad lows too....
Yeah man, I love Cheech. - I call my car "cholo" I would have cholo put across my visor in tint if I wasn't afraid of a drive-by shooting. Did you read that guys post about his buddy getting stabbed because some chic was sittin on his car? - Was horrible.
how cmoe u never see any later 60's galaxies done up low rider style. i got this 67 that i was toying with the idea maybe. they look very much like a 67 impala fastback just with stacked lights. i think lowrider guys dont like stacked head lights my first car i ever messed with was all lowrider style. 85 fleetwood coupe couldnt fit your foot under the frame. i just took the rear springs out completley i think every thing should be lowerd as much as possible. and to keep my post on topic.. 63's and 64's are way played out. i think lowrider guys like them so much cause of the X frame.. Bryan
I'm with ya... I'd take a Galaxie over a Impala anyday... and look, I did! I just think they've got better curves to the body, and more goin' on eye candy wise. Slam it!
I think that some of the Impalas are really cool, I loved my 65 SS, but the late 60's got way to big. I do think the early 60's Fords are way underated, I mean look at that 63 posted up top, you cant go wrong with that!
Ford, Chevy's vato's it's all gravy baby.. I dig 54Bomb's avatar.. I still can't figure mine out.. But here is Carina Caliente you might recognize her from the mad fab video..
[ QUOTE ] Remember Anjanette Garcia????.....sigghhh..... [/ QUOTE ] Dang homie your giving me flashbacks, hey carnal how about Dazza..Now that's a looker..
