I wasn't gonna reply, then I was, Then I wasn't again, and then I was, Then Ryan replyed and then I wasn't again. Would I rather my 32 Ford(?) Roadster be real steal. Of course I would. But does the car I built from the ground up, without instructions ****? NO! Damn I ended up replying . Well I'm not gonna post another pic of it anyway. Don't want to offend anybody
And I will ask you Laidoutford,,,,what kinda rod do you have?,,you are another new guy that always has a negitive comment on other peoples cars and projects,,, If you would have read my post you would have noticed I ask for pictures not the reason you don't like them. You don't like gl*** cars ,,,goody for you !!!
gl*** dash rail on this one...but if could have afforded a gl*** body i would've done it because there was more rust than steel on it!!!
Ok, fine... My theory... On the internet you can't tap the body and listen for steel... So who cares? I most likely wouldn't own a gl*** car, but I don't really turn my nose at em either. It's all good fun. I wouldn't allow an owner of one of those ****ed up gl*** '38s on this board. Those things are bad...
Rudy, when did you change the wheels? I think all the cars here look like HOT RODS all have a traditional look about them too!! Damn Ryan,,,,I thought you were buildin' one of those ugly 38's They do give gl*** cars a bad name!HRP
It's all about the build style. I don't care what it's made from as long as it's COOL!! Here's mine. Poly Form body. Dean
this isn't the post if yea like em or not !! -- we should post our gl*** one here's mine -- I know it's a big **** of tupperware
If you make a copy of a car its a copy and can never be anything than a copy. So how does it matter if you use Gl***, steel, wood, or clay. And dont forget the new high status Fibergl*** called carbon fibre. It will still be a copy. This does not mean that you cant enjoy a copy. I do ;-) A friend of mine bought a right door, 40% of the rear inner panels of a 34 roadster. And then he have had metalcraftsman copy the rest of the sheet metal. And this car will be an Original 1934 Ford Roadster. Its as much "fake" as any gl***fibre car. Think of mee that has a 1930 Gl***fibre Roadster with A four cylinder Engine. A lot of guy's approach me with joy in there eyes, and when the find out its gl*** i get long looks, and when the find out what engine i have they walk a way. But that's there loss not mine. Steeel is real But gl*** is Cl***. Wrap your *** in Fibergl***.
[ QUOTE ] Gl*** cars are kit cars, and I have always thought that they should be judged in a seperate cl*** at shows. They are only a representation, or new design style of an original body. There is also some really ugly gl*** cars such as the coast to coast bodies, and the street beasts. Last year at the Temecula Rod Run, a gl*** coast to coast '38 Ford (that is really stretching it) won best of show. The car was ****ing hideous, and in my opinion was a bad kit car trying to look like a badly customized '38 Ford convertible. Anyway, I don't like gl*** cars. When I am reading magazines, I sometimes go to the facts about the car to see if the body is real or not. I am not saying I won't look at the car featured after that, but I do have a much better appreciation for the car provided it is a real body. [/ QUOTE ] There are some really ugly cars built with steel bodies, too. There will always be a debate over which is superior, gl*** or steel. Each has its own merits and downfalls. Most of the steel cars we revere are KIT cars, ***embled from scrounged, repaired, restored, or new repopped parts. I can not think of one seen on the pages of the HAMB that would not fall in the vague term of KIt car(as in not complete original parts). I guess we each have our own perception of what a KIT car is. So, continue on. Back to the regularly scheduled program.
[ QUOTE ] this isn't the post if yea like em or not !! -- we should post our gl*** one [/ QUOTE ] Your are right,,,I didn't ask if you liked them or not!! I would love to own any of the cars,,,HRP
[ QUOTE ] NO ONE posted ANY of Roth's show cars??????? This is why I'm not on the HAMB much anymore..... [/ QUOTE ] Post away. We would like to see Ed's cars again, too!
I'm getting over being embarr***ed about showing my car on the HAMB. I don't care if it's glas,I love it!!!!
[ QUOTE ] NO ONE posted ANY of Roth's show cars??????? This is why I'm not on the HAMB much anymore..... [/ QUOTE ]
I hate fibergl***... I spent many, many weeks as as a teenager trying to customize some corvette pannels. ****ing itchy, thankless work that kept cracking out. Finally got it right but I still ****ing hate working with fibergl***. That being said, I looked over a couple of Wescott bodies the other day and was really impressed with the inner structure and the over all fit and finish. But then again they ain't cheap either. I would never own a gl*** car unless it had Wescott-levels of fit and finish, and was of a rare enough body that I wouldn't want to **** up an original. Like a B400 or something.
here's my Tupperware, lots of folks call it a kit car, I call it mine, my thought is " you dont like it dont look at it...." I have a ball with it, cost almost $14.oo to paint it, I drive it in the rain like HRLC (love that chick) and I dont offend real eazy seems to me the "experts" dont have a ride just look, the Purists have their cars built by others and as PAKRAT says "who cares" BTW ck out his 32 3 window at Syr in this issue of Street Rodder Serge
My only complaint with 'tupperware' is you have to "burp" the doors when you close them if you have a roof. Mine again..
Hey HOTRODPRIMER! I'm still trying to pinstripe..Thanks again on the 1-shot! I told this story to Mr. Primer a while back but I'll tell it again since the gl*** issue has come up again. I helped a co-worker build a T-bucket,all we started with was the gl*** body. SURE AS HELL wasn't a kit! Poor guy wanted to quit on it two or three times but I said hell no wait till we get that engine out of your Nova and into the bucket. Light weight, open top,BIG *** 406 SBC = Redneck Heaven!
Yeah,I was the dumb*** standing in front taking the picture! I think it had something to do the the fibergl*** fumes...
