Guys... I ran across this on craigslist the middle of last year. A guy had this body (no frame) and an old hotrodded model B 4 cyl. engine for sale for 2500. I was told that this was turned into a "touring" style car back in the 50's...This body and the motor was the only thing used from the '32. Another guy bought it in the later 70's, and tried to re***emble it on a g model GM ch***is. It than sat in a barn until it should up on craigslist...I didn't see much there that I could use, so I p***ed. About a month ago, I got to wondering about it, and I found the guy's # in my desk...long story short I traced it to a guy that had bought it for the engine. I ended up buying the body for 350...has all the hinges, window and door latch hardware, garnish moldings, dash, header panel, windshield frame & hinges and a 36 banjo steering wheel that was laying in the car when I first saw it. The body had been blasted and left outside, but all the other stuff had been taken off and boxed up before that happened, so it is in good shape. I think it was a 2 door sedan before they tried to make a truck out of it...what do you guys think? Does anyone have any rear sheetmetal from a 5 window that would like to sell? Maybe I could piece together a coupe... Sam
Get in line, I have been trying to hunt down rear sheet metal for 6 months now hahaha!!! I ended up getting a Brookville Roadster quarter off ebay pretty cheap which is cool but I would strike like a snake if I could find actual 5 window rear sheet metal. Looks like a great start to a cool car though. Finding a 5w reasonably priced is 3/4 of the battle right?
That is badd ***... lets see a proflie or back shot so we can advise... I can dream of a few things real quick. Don't make it a coupe... to exspensive. Shop truck, 50's hub caps, wide whites, white tuck, late Caddy motor, not too low, etc. !
Jeffrey... I know it's a long line...but a guy can dream, right? I actually just bought it for parts..but when I got it back to the shop I started thinking maybe, just maybe...
that's actually really cool! it kinda of reminds me of the Euroliner that Posies built a while back. It would make an awesome shop truck!
****, I am with everyone else. A nice little '32 pickup would be pretty cool. standard 32 frame, 40 wheels with 7.50's and 6.00's, flathead, banjo, shortened bed, etc. Standard hot rod stuff but it would definitely be cool. Oh and by all means keep dreaming. I know that's the only place I get any work done hahaha!!
Man, I got this thing done in my head... round out that rain gutter too... I see Weezner's little space gals all over my paint! YUMMM
i bought a 31' that was a 2 door sedan also...the back panel needs alot of work and when it was chopped it looks like it got welded back together with a stick welder...lotsa warpage...and i paid $600...and i thought it was an ok deal...so u scored man..
Thanks... The firewall is in pretty good shape...plus a few extra holes. It does have some homemade feet on it, but other than that it seems complete. The firewall is actually what I had in mind when I thought to call about it again...I had forgotten about the other parts that were there. Then I got to thinking that maybe one day I'd have a 5 window, and I might need the a pillars or the hinges. I think the car was actually a finished car back years ago...the garnishs are chopped to match the car and painted a rootbeer color (as is the dash) and the header panel is still covered in a brownish leather like material. Although the dash has a few extra gauge holes in it, the original dash insert is unmolested, and still has the original gauges and knobs in it. The guy I bought it from has several very nice restored Model A's, and and he did a good job preserving everything that could be unbolted from the body...
Why not just cut off the extra and make a cool truck. then you wouldnt have to worry about the back half and it would be alot cheaper
