Saw a set of smoothed Fenton cast headers coated by Jet-Hot Coating - they are really great looking pieces - apparently the castings were ground smooth including the removal of the Fenton Logo - then coated with color called Sterling Silver - anybody do this to their Fentons or had a shop complete the work for them?
I had mine ceramic coated. I uses a flap wheel to smooth out the casting and then hit it with some finer sand paper. They came out real nice and will last a long time. Cost a couple hundred to have them coated...
You might not be looking for the Chevy version, but here is mine. Here they are before the ceramic coat. I removed the logo from the intake and polished it too.
Here is a before anfter picture of one of the headers I had Caps ceramic coat for me. I used sanding rolls and sanded down to a 220 grit finish before sending it to be coated. I got rid of a lot of the extra casting that I didn't like as I sanded and shaped the header. The picture really doesn't do it justice. I think they came out great.
I have done a few sets of cast manifolds, including cast Fentons for a Flathead. I removed casting flash and a few bumps here and there but did not attempt to create a really smooth finish. I had Jet-Hot coat each of the sets and have been quite pleased with the results. The coating has some 'filler' value and the manifolds ended up with a bit of orange peel that I considered satisfactory. My main goal was to prevent 'rusty' manifolds, not a "show finish". I suppose further smoothing prior to coating would end up looking very good.
