OT, Pastrana+New Years Eve=World Record?

That guy is a complete doofus. I'll probably watch it for the same reason most people watch..................potential for televised suicide.

 

Big high dollar publicity stunt. The jump is all math. Weight, speed, and angle of the ramp determine the distance of the jump. Wind and swell will be the only variables. Figure 10ft swells, so they aim for the middle, 5ft variable in either direction, no big deal. A sudden gust of wind could make it interesting though. This sort of thing is just not impressive to me... Or even close to being on topic...

im not taking either side but travis is a few tacos short of a fruit salad, the guy is so far out in left field he's in the parking lot of the baseball field. He jumped out of a plane with no parachute, what does that tell you. Now as far as the jump goes, boring, jumping a car from land to a barge, make it a moving barge and it might become interesting, hell they jumped a gmc crew cab dually thru a moving train in one of the canonball movies, and some one else parked a police car into the side of a 18 wheeler in blues brothers. now those were cool

His fifteen x games medals dont compare to his first national championship.... at sixteen.

The money isnt what drew him from motocross, it is always getting hurt (his knees and shoulders). He first started to sway when he thought it would be fun to jump off a burm in his practice track over a hill and fence. He didnt make it and it cost him the championship a million bucks! He could still backflip while he is hurt, cant be compe***ive while still injured.



Distance jumps ( car or bike ) dont really get me excited still cool.

I'll be watching for sure! Has anyone here ever really had airtime like these guys? I have had my sled over fifteen feet in the air( not on purpose ) and it is a rush. He is the type of guy that would probably do it anyway so he might as well get paid for it.

Bottom line is hes a sick twisted puppie thats gonna jump a "car" over the pacific onto a floating barge. I agree not exactly vintage hot rod news but im glad someone posted it! Cause i wanna see! I think theres room here for this and all the "trad" stuff TOO!
