Hello all trying to work out seats for my ford sedan. It is chopped 4" and channeled another 3" The back will be a middle seat out of a caravan. I also have one of those in my coupe but on a sedan the width in front is about 36" and not much fits. Most buckets are about 20" across and too wide. My buddy Artie B on the Hamb had some 65 mustang buckets which were great except too wide. I want to be able to fold them down and or slide them to allow passengers in the back. Suggestions?
If you don't care about the newer look... I used older Honda civic buckets. They fold all the way back and forward. All four mounting brackets are the same and easy to mount. WD40
I used a third row caravan seat that folded down in my T-Sedan. I took like 6 or 8 inches out of the center of the seat and welded it back together again. I also used a pair of seat sliders from speedway to mount them so I could still have seat adjustment.
What i am really trying to do is get a seta that folds down and then forwrad so that people can get in the back. Anyone else
Really?. I'm also searching for seats for my 28 A sedan. At about the middle of the door (where the front edge of the seat will be), mine measures 40" across. Of course, this is from door panel to door panel.
i used seats from a bronco 2 there just fit width wise and the passanger seat if you modify the factory mount to fit your vehicle the factory made it spring loaded to flip forward and up and allows plenty of room to get into the back seat
You need to allow for the inset of the door and also if you are doing upholstery you dont want it to rub everytime you shut the door.
You can always strip the foam and section buckets or bench into a narrower seat. Same with the taller backs. Opens up a whole new world of options
Bronco 2 or II are little Broncos of the modern era. Bronco started as a little Bronco, then became BIG, then became small again.
Take a look at '01 Dodge Durango second row seats. Mine had seats that the back tilted forward and actually lay flat on the seat bottom. The bottom then released at the rear and "tumbled" forward until it was vertical against the back of the front seat. They weren't the most comfortable seats in the world, but, hey, it's a hot rod, right. Comfort wouldn't be traditional.

Fiero buckets will mount with space between them. If you don't like the headrests, chop them off. I would post a picture but they are in the shed and snowed in. With headrests you can find them with speakers in the headrests. They are about the narrowest I have found.
Ditto. The old ones (pre-headrest) should fit nicely, and they're comfy too. Cheap and easy upholstery kits are available from all of the VW suppliers.
Well after a trip to my local yard I cam up with the 90's middel caravan seats. I was able to switch the car seat back which is foldable with the stationary back that doesnt have the car seats. The mounting bolts are in the same spot and the bottoms are the same. I also found an import SUV with some mounts for the middle jump seats that I will use to be able to FOLD and TUMBLE just like a Wrangler does. For the back I obtained the third seat from a 90's mercedes wagon and also a second option a thrid set from a Volvo wagon. Both are cool and will work. The mercedes almost looks like Hot Rod upholstery and the Volvo is chromed and looks like a jump seat.
I used 05 Neon buckets in my 29 tudor. Fit great, and slide front to back. I have a very bad back, so comfort is more important than anything else.
Have you considered the stock sedan front seats? The back tilts forward, then the bottom tilts forward as well. They're "traditional" , you can get 'em from restorers and reupholstery kits are available cheap.
